College Bball thread?

Why? This is a pretty specific subject, it deserves its own thread. There are plenty of different opinions on the best programs out there(Jimbo's Drinker definitely included)

I was glad to see SIU at 53, but dissapointed to see WKU above them.

ISU with most tourney appearances of any team outside the top 50.

Yay for tall midgetry.

WEll it was in the recruitng thread. I assume KU will be top 5 with UNC, Duke and UCONN and UCLA

ESPN's favorite Duke will be in 1st by a pretty good margin.

Well, Duke has pretty much sucked the last few years and I could not be happier.

Illinois comes in at #23. For some reason ESPN fails to include 2 or 3 conference titles in their calculation.

looking more closely at the scoring, I have to laugh that an NIT Title gets you 2 pts, but NCAA Berth gets you 1.

Did you know? Wisconsin would be near the Top 10 of this list if it went back only a decade. All things considered, this is not a bad historical ranking for a program that went without an NCAA tournament appearance between 1948 and 1993.

Pretty remarkable for a team that prior to 1993 hadnt been in the tournament for 45 years.

I'd say that winning the NIT is more impressive than losing in the first round.

And it is a title and not just a bid. You still have to win 4 or 5 games in a row. And the competition can be better at times.

Remember that ESPN also does the NIT coverage, of course they are going to make it look important.

In theory, the NIT winner would be the 66 ranked team in the nation. I think 2 versus 1 point seems fair.

You'd be able to rank them over quite a few of the low major automatic qualifiers as well.

University of Texas - Pan American Broncs #268 ahead of powerhouse Northwestern :notworthy

I'd rather just win the main title :)
