At $190,000 a year, that's a very good salary. The reason the wealthy run for office isn't because of the salary or lack thereof. Its the campaign finance system, the financial demands, and power/influence relationships built around the wealthy.

Plus, people like the President for example... they hardly ever have to pay for anything with their own money while they're in office.

As a follow up note, I read yesterday in the hard copy of the paper that these lawmakers already GOT a 3.8% COLA. This 12% raise would be above and beyond that.

 

That's exactly what we do today anyway.

 

 

and that's the unfortunate truth... however should it always be that way???
