He hasn't getting smoked all year. He started the season quite well. He's regressed lately, but he hasn't been bad ALL year.

If he turns out to be a good mlb pitcher. He wouldn't be the first player to be average in the minors and than good in the majors.

KC only has one player with an OPS over .775 (Aviles), so that may have helped.

 

Either way, minor league performances don't always translate to the MLB. It may be the defense, motivation, coaching, etc, but many solid MLB players didn't do too hot in the minors.

He is pulling a Twins: be better in the majors than you were in the minors.

Hope he does well, Brooks Boyer will have a field day with his last name.

I think the Sox have had Broadway working on pitches... broadening and refining his repertoire.

 

So, it's natural that he may perform better at the MLB level because he won't be experimenting like he was in AAA.

 

He's only going to be throwing his best pitches.

You wouldnt know his minor league troubles if it wasnt for people screaming at the top of their lungs that he sucks and Ozzie sucks and KW sucks. On this board, certain prospects minor league numbers mean nothing, and others it means everything.

The White Sox optioned right-hander Lance Broadway to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, less than an hour after he started and got the win in a 9-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

 

Broadway is 1-0 in two appearances for the White Sox after he was recalled from the minors four days ago.

 

He pitched 5 1-3 innings Thursday and, after a shaky start, allowed five hits and two runs, both coming in the first inning. Broadway threw 100 pitches.

 

"It's better than going back with a loss. I got up here, got a win -- things are pretty good," said Broadway, the White Sox's first-round selection in the 2005 draft. "They need some bullpen help. It's fine with me. Whatever they need."

 

Broadway is expected to be called back up before the end of the season.

 

"If I got to choose, I'd be back tomorrow. But whenever they need me," he said. "I'll be back in Charlotte having fun there, too."

I just had the chance to do some searching for info and I saw the story too. Kind of confusing. They bring Richard back up now after he got ripped three times. Once again is it because they need someone to spell Thorton, or is Thornton hurt, or do they need a second lefty?

Oh no, not Richard again... This guy has nothing except that he is a lefty who works fast with a bit of a hitch in his delivery.

 

Why send Broadway down after he gives you a decent (but not great) start, better then anything Richard has shown this season?

I think a big reason for that might be that the org. has him working on something specific in the minors. Either working on a certain pitch and using it for the majority of the game or perhaps working a certain spot of the plate. I find it tough to believe he can dominate for the first two months and then be dog s***.

Why call up a starter who doesn't pitch in relief when we need a reliever. I think saying Richard is his replacement is premature, unless Thornton (or maybe Ramirez???) is hurt and they want another lefty.

 

Could we see the return of Mac?
