Vazquez went 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in his two starts last week. The 32-year-old Ponce, Puerto Rico native struck out 18 batters in 16.0 innings pitched, issuing only one walk. On August 12th against the Kansas City Royals, Vazquez pitched eight innings in which he scattered five hits and a walk and posted 10 strikeouts, marking, his fourth double-digit strikeout game of the season. On August 17th against the Oakland Athletics, Vazquez went eight innings again, allowing only four hits and fanning eight. On the season, Vazquez is 10-10 with a 4.34 ERA and 159 strikeouts in 164.0 innings pitched. This marks the weekly honor of Javier Vazquez's career.

JV finally pitching like everyone expects him to. Nice to see.

This what drives many of us mad about Javy. He will dominate a few starts making everyone think, has he FINALLY turned the corner and figured it out, and then he goes through a crappy stretch and makes us all wonder why he sucks again. He is a roller coaster.

Hopefully he keeps it up. He certainly has the stuff to continue dominating. It's all head games with him.
