fathom
Here goes nothing: - In the last 8 games, the White Sox have exactly one single, double, or triple that went into the outfield to score a runner. Every other run has been scored via homer or ground out. - You want a positive? We can actually cheer for a thriving offense this weekend when hoping for the Royals to beat the Twins. I have a feeling our old buddy Miguel Olivo could have some big hits against Liriano and/or Perkins. - There is absolutely no chance that Orlando Cabrera returns to the White Sox. From day one, it's been a bad fit.http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/chi-080925-ozzie-guillen-orlando-cabrera-white-sox,0,1795712.story - A common belief in baseball is that it's not the start on 3 days rest that hurts a pitcher the most, but rather it's the start that follows. With that in mind, Vazquez/Buehrle/Floyd went 16 2/3 innings and allowed 12 earned runs with 32 base runners allowed. In conclusion, the 4 man rotation was an absolute disaster. - Please Kenny Williams, don't get too caught up in the Twins hype. By acquiring a few speedsters this offseason, it's not going to magically turn us into a blooper hitting, base stealing s***head squad. It's ok if you try to sign Hudson (Yankees want him), but don't give up any prospects we might have for Figgins. Figgins is not well-received in the Angels locker room. You know, the same locker room where Cabrera was a godsend. - I'm just so thankful that Quentin's injury doesn't appear to be something we'll have to worry about for next season, and that Konerko's knee was ok. Just please Cabrera, don't hurt yourself in the next week so that we can't offer you arbitration. -I guessed I missed the memo where we were trying to stretch out Jenks to become a starting pitcher. - Can we really blame Hawk for loving Gomez? No matter what he says, Gomez looks all-world against the Sox. Also, Hawk was pretty damn good tonight. - This should make you laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur8AwQHusZw Edited September 26, 2008 by fathom
fathom
One more thing....with the White Sox, Ken Griffey Jr. is 7-44 against LHP with an OPS around .450. Stop letting him face lefty relievers!!
fathom
That Swisher for Cano trade would be interesting, but all the rumors suggest Cano will be used to acquire some pitching. I think two free agents the Sox will look at besides Hudson are Punto and Abreu. Abreu and Ozzie are close friends, and if there was anyway the Sox could move Dye to DH by unloading Thome, he would be a great fit in RF. Milkman delivers
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 01:11 AM) That sounds about right. The Sox should be ashamed to have to cheer for the Royals this weekend. The scoreboard watching should be over. If this is a surprise to anyone, they haven't followed the team. Cabrera was gone in June. Yes, it failed. I'm not going to blame Ozzie for trying his hand with his "horses". Blame could be put on Williams for not having a real backup plan after Contreras, but whatever. If you are going to go down, I would rather it be with the guys that got you to first place. The Sox are going to end up with Cano, and the package is going to be centered around Swisher. Call it a hunch. Everyone was calling for urgency, and praising Gardy for playing the 7th game of the World Series. Again, Ozzie was using the best he had, and was going to go down with it. I would rather loose with Jenks than Dotel getting lit up. Comparing him with Rickey Henderson should get him fired, I don't care how good Gomez looked. Well, I posted way more than I wanted to tonight. O well. Such as the man who was consistently our best pitcher throughout this entire season (minus about 4 games)? fathom
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) I'm not following? I'm sure he's referring to Danks.

Milkman delivers
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) Sounded more like a reference to Bobby Jenks. What? I was clearly referring to Danks. How in the f*** was Jenks our best pitcher throughout the year? Danks has that locked up, even if he gets blown out to end the season. I'm saying it was a f***ing retarded move to purposely avoid starting Danks in that series.
