July 18, 200322 yr because we are all stuck in the same living hell..lol..this is a team effort .....we all go down together......... Nah not really. The fairweathered fans will leave one by one...
July 18, 200322 yr Any real Sox fan always has hope. However, realistically being 8 games out and continually losing to the Tigers is not a good sign. Also Colon getting battered and not winning in his last 5 starts more or less is not a good sign. But then again to have the team battle back from a 9-1 deficit and make it a 10-9 game, even though we lost, gives you that little ounce of optimism. I will regain hope once(or if) we get of JM. I think once he is gone, we will rejuvenate.
July 18, 200322 yr Koch's disease must be contagious, because Colon caught it. Do you feel this is just coincidence. I think once you get in a lame ass clubhouse, with a lame ass manager, you sometimes just fall back into the mix. The colon and Koch i know are very good pitchers, especially Colon.
July 18, 200322 yr ur forgetting the sox get up for the good teams and lay down againhst the bad teams. And since there are an equal number of bad teams vs. good teams (and that's being generous, there are way more bad-mediocre teams), we'll finish at around .500 at the best. That won't get the Sox anything.
July 20, 200322 yr what did i tell u WOOOOHOOO we beat the tigers!!! OFF to the world series we go!!!!
July 20, 200322 yr wait! if we win tomorrow tell me what u think. I will think we are an average team. Ive thought that since March.
July 20, 200322 yr i have a feeling they'll turn around Like they've done the last two seasons..... when they're OUT of it
July 21, 200322 yr Like they've done the last two seasons..... when they're OUT of it yup... we will finish 3-5 games back and think of what could have been
July 21, 200322 yr what did i tell u You mean in the 200 + posts where you have said absolutely nothing?
July 21, 200322 yr The question about our hopes reminds me of Jim Mora, former coach of the Indianapolis Colts. "Playoffs??? Playoffs??? But, yes, I still have hopes.
July 21, 200322 yr I don't really have hope but anything is possible. Our starting pitching has been pretty good. Our defense is pretty s***ty. Our closing sucks. I still expect Minn. to win it. Amazing how the Royals beat the M's 3 of 4 while Minn was winning 4 straight. Think how quickly things could have changed had the Royals lost all 4 to the M's (like we would have) and Minn won all four. Things can change in a hurry but yes I've given up, though I wouldn't bet my life on us NOT winning the division.
July 21, 200322 yr Oops, I forgot, our hitting has been horrific, though it's nice to see Paulie coming around. And nice hitting by Frank again today and of course Maggs.
July 21, 200322 yr Author all i said was that i think the sox have a legitimate shot at the division.
July 21, 200322 yr I've already turned my focus to the opening of football season. I don't think the Bears are going anywhere this year, but since the season hasn't started yet, you can still be optimistic. I guess the Bulls could also be interesting this year, though I don't care much for basketball. The Hawks will also play, but I think anybody that contributes one second of their lives to the Wirtz organization is an absolute idiot. This year's Sox team is done, and I've tended to agree with a friend of mine who stated that this year's Sox is the most disappointing Chicago sports team of our lifetimes. Hard to argue against that.
July 21, 200322 yr all i said was that i think the sox have a legitimate shot at the division. We know what you said -- but on this board, it takes more than 1 sentence statements to start a discussion. A good thing to do would have been to say "I still have hope the Sox can win the division, followed by the reasons why you feel that way (such as MB and EL pitching great, our offense starting to come around, etc, etc). "I still have hope" isn't really a good backbone for a conversation.
