Mets Acquire Javier Castillo

Bart Hubbuch of The New York Post tweets that the Mets have acquired infielder Javier Castillo from the White Sox, and have assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo. The 25-yr old Castillo hit 262-.319-.387 in 182 plate appearances for Triple-A Charlotte this year, playing third base exclusively. He also has experience at shortstop, but hasn't played the position regularly since 2006. No word on what Chicago receives in the deal at this time.

 

Castillo has never played in the big leagues.

I wonder if we got Broadway back in the deal....

I broke this story two days ago on Future Sox.

I dont like it and I am not one to complain about trading minor leaguers but this kid was impressive in the WBC IIRC. But hey what do I know.

I think it's too late to rescind the trade. Looks like they jumped the gun trading Castillo with Andy Phillips filing for free agency.

Just means we'll get a couple AA > AAA promotions. Cook will probably be one, but, who would likely be the other?

I imagine it will be Retherford or Gartrell.
