July 8, 200916 yr I never thought he would ever take a step on a major league field again. Andy Gonzalez-1B- Marlins Jul. 8 - 1:35 pm et Marlins purchased the contract of infielder Andy Gonzalez from Triple-A New Orleans. Hanley Ramirez missed his third consecutive game Tuesday with a strained right hip flexor and may need a few more days of recovery. Gonzalez will provide infield depth until he returns. The 27-year-old was batting .260/.361/.356 with four home runs and 32 RBI in 219 at-bats for the New Orleans Zephyrs. Related: Hanley Ramirez
July 9, 200916 yr If you thought the name of this thread was hard to believe, imagine this title: Andy Gonzalez takes the roster spot of Hanley Ramirez.
July 9, 200916 yr QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) If you thought the name of this thread was hard to believe, imagine this title: Andy Gonzalez takes the roster spot of Hanley Ramirez. If it had "Slugger Andy Gonzalez..." I would have felt it more worthy. The only guy on the 2007 White Sox worthy of an F+
July 9, 200916 yr QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) Who's a worse player, Andy Gonzalez or Brent Lillibridge? In what they've done at the big league level, Lillibridge.
July 9, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) In what they've done at the big league level, Lillibridge. Did you throw up in your mouth thinking about it?
July 9, 200916 yr I have never disliked a Sox player as much as I did Andy Gonzalez. I have never seen a player I thought was more undeserving of MLB playing time as Andy Gonzalez. But in the NL he's got a shot at 100 RBIs.
July 9, 200916 yr QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 12:56 PM) Did you throw up in your mouth thinking about it? Actually it made me want to do some combination of punching Lillibridge and telling him he owes us 50 pushups every time he hits the ball in the air.
July 9, 200916 yr It's the Marlins, what else can you say? If you have a pulse, you have a chance. Give me a year to train and I could crack their 25 man roster. I remember Andy Gonzalez as the starting second basemen for the 2005 Birmingham Barons. Edited July 9, 200916 yr by JPN366
