July 22, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) No. They can currently hold out fora similar price to what they got for Sabathia, and they're not going to get that. His contract for next year (can't remember if it's a team option or what the status is) is also really reasonable. If you're Cle and look at the division right now, with some health next year they can be right in it
July 22, 200916 yr He only makes like $7 or 8 mil next year, which is a steal, but the issue is none of their other starting pitchers are any good, which will keep them from competing next year either way. With the favorable contract, they should be able to get a pretty good deal for him
July 22, 200916 yr Should they, yes (if they get a good package). They still need a lot more help in the rotation, lineup, bullpen, and also the coaching staff. Will they, probably not.
July 23, 200916 yr It appears that the Tribe and Rays are having discussions about Lee. The Tribe wants a minimum of two top prospects and is asking for Wade Davis as one of them. (Although the Rays are balking on his inclusion so far.) There have been some discussions, per ESPN, of a third team getting involved to help make all the parties happy.
July 23, 200916 yr The Indians would be crazy to not deal Lee and Victor for all the prospects they can get. Their last rebuilding effort fell way short and it seems like it's time to try again.
July 23, 200916 yr Lee could also do wonders for the development of Kazmir and Price. It would seem to really make sense for them.
July 23, 200916 yr Author Ironic, but they (Rays) got rid of Edwin Jackson going into the same season of arbitration eligibility, right?
