Kicking the habit: Tuesday marks the five-week anniversary of left-hander John Danks quitting his use of smokeless tobacco.

"It's something that wasn't easy to do, but it's something I've wanted to do," said Danks, who is coping with circulatory problems in his left index finger. "My family is happy about it. I feel like I'm over it."

Danks credited his teammates for helping him fight his cravings.

Safe to assume he's having painful withdrawals..probably a difficult time for him physically.

I know almost nothing of chewing tobacco (I think everything I know about it comes from The Sandlot).

Does it contain nicotene and a lot of the other crap in cigarettes.

It's actually a lot worse and in more concentrated levels.

Way to go Danks! Congrats!! Glad to see that he's done this. It only gets harder the longer you've been doin' it.

I've smoked for a long time (more years than I care to admit) and quit a couple of weeks ago. It has been HARD.

Keep it up Big Ed don't even bum a smoke .
