October 22, 200916 yr White Sox 2009: Scott Linebrink By SoxNet.net Rule #1 in off-season free-agency signings: when it comes to relievers, tread lightly. Hopefully White Sox GM Kenny Williams will follow this rule in the future, thanks to Scott Linebrink. Linebrink was signed by the White Sox pre-2008 to a four-year, $19 million deal. October 22, 200916 yr Author What is everyone else's take on the 2009 season Linebrink had and more importantly what the future holds for Liney and the Sox?
October 22, 200916 yr Author The only bright side with Linebrink is the fact that he was throwing hard down the stretch. His issues had more to do with poor command and a lack of confidence in his secondary stuff than it did health. And because of that, I wouldn't be at all shocked to see Linebrink rebound next year and turn into one of the club's MVP's in what I think will be a promising 2010.
October 22, 200916 yr I think his problem for more then a year has been his shoulder. Its not healthy enough to throw the splitter. He can throw the fastball at 93-94,but he cant put the strain on his shoulder anymore with the splitter, which was his out pitch. His fastball is straight and very hittable.Unless he gets his shoulder well enough to throw the splitter again he will be very avarage.
