elrockinMT
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) I think Getz is going to be a legitimately solid player. Good OBP, probably hit closer to .300 than he did this year, steal a good number of bases. I agree with you on the Getz evaluation. Remember all the Sox management hype aout him being just the kind of player the Sox needed and wanted? He performed well and with more major league experience I thik he will be a very solid part of any team.
DaveBrown85
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) I think Getz is more or less maxed out. Maybe he ends up as a career .275 hitter rather than the .261 he hit this year but he doesn't have the skillset of a .300 hitter and I'd be very surprised if he ever hits for power or plays gold glove caliber defense. Getz screams backup infielder to me, and not even a particularly good backup infielder at that. Really? What makes you think this?
soxrwhite
We had to give them Getz or they wouldn't have taken Fields! Getz will not be a hall of famer but may make an all star team before he is through. A guy you could win with or lose with depending on your team. Injury prone? I'd think about taking that bet for sure. The only chance he would ever have at making an AS team is with a team like KC that sends one guy every years, and for some reason they really needed a 2B to balance the roster. May never hit for power, but he's got good speed. Not GG caliber, but decent. I'd say he'll wind up being an average 2b with real legit skill on the basepaths. That's a middle-of-the-pack 2b for the league. He's not going to be an all star, but there's nothing wrong with that.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) Great, now we have to play Scotty Pods 18 times a season ... and Getz ... and Brian Anderson ... and Fields. All guys who will want to kick our ass. Good luck to our pitchers keeping Scotty off base. He had a lot of multi hit games last year. Royals are loading up on our players. I fully expect us to trade for DeJesus soon and the Royals to sign Dye or Thome. Royals --> White Sox -s***ty players, what do the White Sox want to do with players who played for the Royals, every player that plays for the Royals is bad White Sox --> Royals -OMG, what are the Sox doing letting players go to the Royals, they are gonna be mad and play good and stuff oh, and the Royal --> White Sox connection already happened with Dye
