Not a surprise really, but more confirmation of his potential move.

I would agree that this his possible future position with the Sox and I feel very strongly both ways about it

What do you mean you feel strongly both ways?

If Dayan tears it up this spring could anyone see him making the 25 man and maybe stepping into that DH spot? Maybe even a platoon with him and Kong at 1B/DH. Or is he still a few years out? I feel like expectations for him were higher last year at this point in time than they are now.

He would not be considered. He showed too many holes in his game for AA in '09. He has a major gaping issue of plate patience. The Sox also wouldn't want him to all of a sudden revert to DH either when he hasn't even played a major league game yet.

Furthermore, with Konerko and Teahen starting, there's really no place for him to be an everyday player in the big leagues. They're not putting him at 1b in the majors after having barely played that position before.

As others have said, not likely. But... welcome to the board!

No rush. He's still only 20. It may not seem like it because his name has been around for a couple of years now, but he's a baby.

For some perspective, we look at Beckham like he's advanced beyond hs years, but he's 3 years older than Viciedo.

Maybe.

He's also under contract for a limited amount of time with no arbitration years to tie him to the team after the contract is complete. So yeah, there is a rush.

I'm fairly certain that this is incorrect. I'm pretty sure Hahn said that Viciedo will be subject to the arbitration process just as any other draftee/IFA would be, and the same for Alexei..

Maybe.

Honestly, that's just a lazy argument anymore. It is so much harder to forge ages now than it was even just 5 years ago. Teams are more aware and the legality behind it has made it much tougher. It's annoying when people continue to use that argument.

You are correct. I don't have the article but someone posted it here during this past season.

No. There isn't. They have him under control for his first 6 ML seasons. If he has enough service time, he'll be arb eligible. If not, they still have him under control like they would any other player. It just so happens that he cost more than most players beginning their careers.
