Reed or Nanita

Featured Replies

A wonderul White Sox night was made even better by two of their top minor league prospects.

Jeremy Reed hit two homers and drove in six runs and bumped his average up to .403 at Birmingham.

and Ricardo Nanita hung right with him by banging two homers and driving in 6 at Great Falls. He's only hitting .388.

Joe Borchard continues to make a bit of improvement, too, homering for the 10th time.

So which guy is the Sox best outfield prospect?

I've got to go with Reed. To hit over .400 after nearly 150 at bats in AA after starting the season in high A ball is awfully impressive.

Potential-wise Joe Borchard blows them all away. In reality right now Reed is leading the bunch, as he has had more time down there, and has had better preformances more consistantly. It will be interesting to see is Nanita keeps this up next year though...

Nanita's sustained performance has already exceeded a "hot or lucky" streak. Plus, he had pretty good college credentials. Obviously, I haven't seen him, but the kid can play, and I hope the Sox move him up as quickly as they did with Reed, who went straight to Kannapolis, I believe. Reed bypassed the Rookie League.

hitting prob nanita over all reed.

does anyone think besides me that it is time maybe to move nanita up a league?

They have only got like another month to go... I'd leave him there.

We have several outfielders at Kanny who are not hitting particularly well. Nanita needs to move up.

nanita has proven he can handle rookie ball.

a month at low-A would help him next season.

Promote him to Kannapolis, which needs an outfielder to replace Webster.

And let Reed finish the summer in Birmingham.

a month in A ball will get him ready for the arz league in fall.

Reed is at a higher level so I'll say he is the better prospect until Nanita can hit .400 in AA. Both should probably get promoted to be honest. Reed just got promoted to AA though, so I can see where the Sox may be hesitant to move him up again.
