I need to catch a break to land a good job

Featured Replies

Okay, so I know mostly everyone reading this is going to say cry me a river but I have to try every means neccessary to find myself a better paying job. In the near future I will have a family I have to take care of. Although I make good money for a single man with little responsibility I dont make anywhere near as much as I need to to take care of my family in the future. I work double shifts a lot of times so I can save more but really this job isnt going to cut it when it all comes down to it. I thank God for even having a job but I need something better for my family, not so much for myself. I guess the areas I am looking for (cause I am willing to do anything that is going to pay me well no matter how hard the job) is working for the State or the City of Chicago but those jobs seem to be pretty hard to come by. Dont really know which way to turn other than having faith in God to lead me to a job that will allow me to be a provider.

That was kinda deep....for shipps.

Aren't you in the health care industry? And I don't know if the state is where you want to be. IL is having the same problems as NY and everyone at state agencies here told me not to bother. There aren't any jobs, raises are barely equal to inflation and job security isn't what it used to be. Federal is where we all want to be...and those jobs are even harder to come by.

I just got my 2 month job extended for a year (thank God). The pay is fine for what I'm doing, but it is low for a lawyer and I can't imagine saving much on my salary. So I know what you are going through.

That's good to hear, G&T.
