Im not sure what the Sox plans are for Dayan next year. My guess is maybe play winter ball and see how he does in ST. But being on the opening day roster next year wouldnt surprise me.

I seriously doubt that they'd just give him that spot and expect that he can make up for Paulie's production. I could see a Viciedo/Konerko 1b/DH platoon with some other stuff like Vizquel and Teahen at 3b and Quentin and someone else in RF being the plan if they decided to go that route.

 

As long as they get Kotsay out of the damn way.

Rios is nowhere near the all star caliber player he was earlier in the year.

When you look at the stats, he had one great month with the power, but he's been consistent with the average most of the other months.

I know Oz likes Kotsay and that makes you incredibly mad, but there is little chance Kotsay is back on this team next season as our DH. I'm guessing that's where Dayan will find himself almost all next season.

Hopefully if both sides want a deal they can come up with something for a few years...the only worry might be if he thinks he doesn't need to take a paycut (Johnny Damon style).
