This is true. But then again, the Sox only have three standouts on defense in Rios, Alexei, and Pierre.

I know many will disagree w/ me but paulie saves a lot of errors at first base I'd throw him in the standout category if juan pierre is in there

Range-wise, Konerko is below average. He does save a decent amount of errors, but I don't think that alone makes him a standout on defense.

 

Sure, Pierre can't throw, but his range makes up for a lot of his arm-weakness.

Clearly it was a joke. I'm just not sure how anyone benefited from random shots at Juan Pierre. It wasn't discussed in the thread, it didn't add to the discussion, all it did was piss me off, which is, I'd guess, a portion of the intent.

 

Yes Balta, I came in with the intent to piss you off. It was a joke to J4L since everyone knows how he feels about Pierre. I've been one of the bigger Pierre supporters/defenders here. I really didn't think it was a big deal.

Beckham being better and PK regressing are two certainties in my mind. Peavy and CQ are the definite X factors, mostly Peavy. We can live with Carlos putting up similar numbers to last season but we can't with Peavy on the dl for most of the season imo.

 

I think the offense will be pretty good. I think Becks will be much better and Carlos will be slightly better. Rios is way too streaky and will be just ok.

 

I think the key will be the starting pitching. We need Gavin to be far more consistent over the whole season. I don't see Peavy contibuting all that much so it will be on the other guys to step it up.
