SN Report: Sox Sign Thomas to One-Year Deal

Featured Replies

Last year I was constantly upset about Frank's performance but now I cant figure out why I am happy about being resigned.

Oh well I'm happy.

I'm so happy he's coming back, i couldn't imagine him in another uniform.

that is a strange contract but what the hell-

guiess whose back,

back again,

Frank is back,

tell a friend,

guess whose back,

guess whose back,

guess whose back,

guess whose back,

guess whose back -

Eminem fans will catch the musical reference... which may be appropriate because for some reason during the cubs series they kept playing Em music when Frank came to bat - maybe he's a fan? That was the only series that I heard that though.

Just plain old sweet to have Frank back at the DH slot.

He is going to do real good.

ok i just got off the phone with gug.... he emailed frank and heres what he had to say......technically its a three year deal... not a one year deal.... there are options on both sides to do certian things at the end of this year, but he is signed till 2006 plain and simple( i understand that much at least lol).. ill have him foward me the email or better yet just come on here and explain it all himself.... as im still confused as to whats what........lol.........

The contract is very easy to understand.

Every year, each side decides if they want to stay in the deal. If Frank wants to go, but the Sox want him to say the use their option, while Frank declines his.

But I could be reading it wrong. :D

lol well thats some of what i thought too untill gug started explaining it to me.. then i reached for the bottle of tylenol because i have a pounding headache just thinking about it........lol

This is how it works: First Frank get the choice to invoke his option at 6 mil, if he declines, then the Sox's still have a chance to invoke there option at 8 mil, or they could let him go and he becomes a FA.
