Was Ritchie Offered Arbitration?

Featured Replies

I've been looking all over the place and yesterday was the deadline.

I'm curious to know if he was offered it or not. I know Parque wasn't, but what about Ritchie?

If Ritchie's gone then the Sox will save like 3 mill a year, from what they'd have to pay him if he was arbitration eligible.

Maybe the Sox now go sign Daal at like 2.5 mill a year and then Byrd at 4 mill a year.

I didn't see anything about it, but the Sox are usually quiet subjects like this.

haha, sure they can Jason.

The Royals are rumored to be offering Byrd a 9 mil/2 year deal, so the Sox's would need to come at him with at least 5 mil per year. I think we'll get Daal, then KW will trade for a 3-4 type starter.

No way the Royals are offering him that. I can see him getting that elsewhere, but not in KC.

I was figuring like a 4yr/16 mill deal, that way he'd get more guaranteed money.

But at 5 mill a year I wouldn't go more then 3 yrs.

I am not positive what Ritchie was making last year, but he can't get too much of a decrease so the Sox can keep their payroll much lower then it was last year and add 7 mill or so in free agent pitchers right now, if in fact they lose Ritchie.

nobody ever loses money in arbitration...ever...even styerling hitchcock got a raise after he had a era above 6...if we do offer ritchie arbirtation his agent would be smart to ak for like a 100k raise...ritchie would win that

ya know i have been lookin all nite and i still havent seen anything on this topic...i guess i have to resort to doing things the old fashoined way and make a few phone calls ...lol......

there is no talk because the Sox have until the 18th.

todays date was just for free agents. Ritchie isn't a free agent. just up for arbtration. if this was the date, than we'd hear about Buehrle and Koch also, as they are arbitration eligible.

Ritchie asking for $1 more in salary this year after the season he had last year takes alot of balls. But I agree with Baggs..... Richie should just be happy he still has a job
