August 9, 200322 yr While experiencing the one the best games since the McDowell/Johnson duel in '93, I was think what a shame it was Mulder(an admitted Sox fan) was pitching for the A's. A team he probably grew up hating in the late 80's. Then I thought: Was MB still pining for the St. Louie lifestyle? Too bad we can't orchestrate a 3-way trade... MB to St. Louis JD Drew and Vina to Oakland Mulder to Chicago. I figured Beane covets Drew, Bo Hart makes Vina tradable and the emergance of Harden would still give Oakland a "Big Three" Maybe I think too much during a game...

August 9, 200322 yr Do you know how f***ing sweet it would be if, when he becomes a FA, he signed with us? That would be awesome. Then we'd have to resign Buehrle of course.

I figured Beane covets Drew, Bo Hart makes Vina tradable and the emergance of Harden would still give Oakland a "Big Three" Only problem with that scenario is, we'd be giving up MB to St Louis. I'm greedy. I'd cream over a rotation of EL, MB, BC, Mulder, and Garland.

I think that is a pretty good trade, with the one exception being vina's salary. Oakland would want Vina for free. And would probably want a minor leaguer too. In the end though, Stl, would not want to give up Drew, Vina, and a minor leaguer just for Buehrle. So the deal would only work if we tossed in more to Stl. Overall though, I think you had your thinking cap on during the game.

August 9, 200322 yr No! ... If Beane trades Mulder to us, you can bet his fastball will lose 8-10 mph.
August 9, 200322 yr Beane won't want Drew & Vina. But he might want Renteria to replace Tejada. I doubt if STL does it. There will be plenty of arms available for sale in FA & they have the $$$.
