Anyone else follow high school basketball? Playoffs start today in Illinois for 3A and 4A boys. I love it up here in Lake County.

How many classes does Indiana ball have? Not a fan of 4 classes although 4A could be fun this year.

There are some big time players in Indiana this year. Usually when I do a game in my HS's conference I am watching at least one DI recruit.

I got to see Shawn Kemp vs Rick Fox a couple times.

I got to see and meet Zach Randolph as a sophomore and a senior at state finals. Randolph played against Sean May and Jarred Jefferies at State finals.

 

Over the last couple of years, I got to see Mitch McGary who is going to be a lottery pick whenever he goes pro, plus Glenn Robinson's kid who is going to Michigan with McGary next year.

Big Ten is filled with kids from Lake County now. Milik Yarborough will be next in a couple of years but heard Syracuse could be in on him.

I wish they'd go down to 3. I can see why they wanted more than 2, but 4 is a bit much, just like 8 is too much for football.

I hate the 4 classes. I usually go to Peoria for the finals and it has sucked since it went to 4.

I can see wanting to ditch the Saturday doubleheaders, but having four quarterfinals on Friday was a special thing. It's not like they opened up more teams to go to state, they just give out more trophies. 16 teams still go to state in total and that's the real prize for many schools and their fans.

Heck yeah. 4 win or go home games on Friday was so fun to follow and had huge crowds. The crowds in Peoria are pretty bad, especially with a public league team down there.

Can't believe I'm posting about girls in here, but undefeated Whitney Young just knocked out 3-time defending champ Bolingbrook in 4 OTs. Both teams are in the top 10 nationally and Bolingbrook has a UConn recruit. 4 freaking OTs!

I saw that and my jaw dropped. Sucks for IHSA that the two best teams in teh state face in the supers but sometimes it lines up that way. Girls basketball bores me to tears but that is pretty incredible.

Also have heard bad thinks about that Bolingbrook program. Girls mysteriously transfering in all the time.

the #1 team in the state of indiana wins on a 40 foot shot at the buzzer in the opening round of sectionals, by the probable Mr Basketball. Hoosier Hysteria at its finest.

Apparently Gary Harris's shot is leading as ESPN's Sports nation play of the day.

 

Great shot, but it was a tie game. He misses, they still play on.

 

The Richmond shot a few years ago is still the best high school shot I have ever seen, even though it came against my school.

I've covered them a few times this year. They're one of the better teams around, or at least they were. They've hit some sort of wall lately. They started something like 18-2 and made the final at Proviso West, but lost three in a row to start February, lost the conference title and barely avoided a couple more upsets since. They're the top seed in the sectional though so who knows.

They just barely beat Niles West in the first round. I wasn't overly impressed with NT the 3 times I saw them this year. Proviso was down this year.

I can't argue with any of that, but they're still not playing as well as they did earlier in the year.

Lots of top ranked teams had problems in the first round across the state. Some even loss. If a top team struggles after that first playoff game, than fans have to worry.
