mssed the details from Ed and John

SUllivan is a right handed set up guy who has always been very dependable out of the pen. I feel it was a great pickup and EXAXCTLY what we needed.

from Cincy????

and : who will go down....... Koch? or get real, who goes down?

He had a good reputation for not blowing games (has a sort-of closer mentality). He'll be light's out when the game's on the line, but has kinda of a let down in blow outs.

My guess is Adkins is going down.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX BREAKING NEWS

===========================================================

WHITE SOX DEAL FOR RHP SCOTT SULLIVAN

The White Sox acquired right-handed pitcher Scott Sullivan

from the Cincinnati Reds Thursday evening in exchange for a

player to be named later.

I guarantee Adkins goes down. Sullivan is exactly what the doctor ordered. I and a few others had mentioned his name near the deadline as a possibility if the Sox couldn't get Williamson. At that time he was just coming off the DL, but he's always been good with the Reds, DAMN good.

The only worry with him is he always pitches so many games and innings that you never know what kind of an effect it will have on him.

Still, from the quotes I've read from the Reds players...he was loved there and they know they are losing out a real quality pitcher.

Sullivan may end up wanting to go back to Cincy as he is FA after this season unless he really takes a liking to Chicago.

Also, if Adkins goes down when Sullivan comes, who goes down when Koch comes off the DL??

Sullivan has a history of being durable. However, the fact that he just came off the DL does concern me. If he is not damaged goods, then great. But if he is, KW should flat out be fired for not doing his due diligence. It'll be a Billy Koch deal, all over again. De Ja-f***ing-vu.

I'm thinking Willie Harris. We have plenty of guys who can play the outfield right now, and Alomar doesn't need many days off. When Alomar does get a day off, Tony G can easily fill in for him. Harris seems to be the 'odd man out' here.

Sound thinking on your part. You just may have nailed that one.

Well Sullivan has been very good since coming off the DL, which is a great sign.

I agree, Chisoxfn. Still, I'm somewhat concerned about the possibilities.

Also, Sox have an option on him for 3 mill next year. Don't know what the terms of the deal were, but I know the Reds sent cash over, which means were probably getting him for free this year. Unfortunately that means they get a bit better prospect. Still, I don't anticipate them giving up a STUD prospect.

Another name that could go would be everyones favorite prospect, Jim Bullard. Just me throwing some names out though.

Losing Bullard would be sad.

IMO JM likes using Willie Harris too much. Here is how the Sox will play it. They will delay the return of Billy Koch until Sept 1st and that way they don't have to make a roster move, and because he was on the DL they can decide at the end of the year who to leave off if we make it to the playoffs.

Koch will stay on the DL until the rosters expand thereby giving us 26 players to pick from to add to a roster in October if an October roster is necessary.
