5th starter

Featured Replies

i say, let cotts have a couple more starts, see how he does.... see if he can get settled in at all... but if he gives up over 5 runs in under 6 innings then i would say....

hold your breath.....

give danny wright another chance.....

i know he has been HORRIBLE this season, but look at his last few apperiences

i remember seeing cotts in anahiem and danny balled him out.... and pitched very strong.... and he did the same today vs. new york

it would be intresting to see if someone could dig up some of his recent numbers

ok, now ill sit back and wait for everyone to blast this idea =]

I'm not gonna blast your idea, in theory it does sound good. Danny has been pretty solid out of the Pen, but I think that him being there is for the best. Without him there, we have no long reliever for when some other starter gets hit hard. He and Cotts can't switch roles, because Cotts in the pen would be disastrious. I LOVE having Wright in the Pen, and right now we have no options in the #5 starter role, sans Jon Rauch or Brian Cooper. Even then, we are still caught experimenting in the middle of a playoff drive, something you cannot do.

I was thinking, if they plan on not using Cotts as a starter the rest of the way, then they'd use Wright in the rotation and the signing of Paniagua was so he could enter the bullpen and would be on the playoff roster if Koch didn't come back.

Hell, if they aren't going to start Cotts again, send him back to Birmingham for the playoffs!

I think he will start again, however.

lets just let cotts start and call danny in for the middle of the 1st inning........we cant seem to get a solid #5 so lets create one out of two guys......
