Signings and trades are always made. Way too hard to predict a roster 2 years in advance.
March 18, 201412 yr I would put Chris Beck on the roster as an SP over anyone else who didn't pitch in Chicago last year.
March 18, 201412 yr I don't even know what the 25 man roster is going to look like on March 30th of 2014. I definitely don't know what it's going to look like on August 1st of 2014. I am absolutely dumbfounded as to what it's going to be on April 1st of 2015. I know this is meant as a fun exercise, but frankly I'd be impressed by anybody that got 50% of the 2016 roster correct. 2 years ago, there's no way anybody could have predicted that Garcia, Eaton, Davidson, and Abreu would be in the opening day lineup, or that Chris Sale would be coming off back to back incredibly seasons, or that some guy named Jose Quintana was going to take a spot in the rotation, or that Philip Humber would be out of the league.
March 18, 201412 yr If anything you won't have semien and Sanchez on the bench, they do the same thing. Plus from what I've read T Anderson might not end up a SS because of a weaker arm

March 19, 201412 yr If Johnson plays 2B we have a lot of depth at that spot to trade. Semien would represent insurance at multiple positions, 2B, SS, 3B. Davidson's done some things in Spring, but for all we know our 2016 3B is Gillaspie or Semien. Maybe even someone else entirely. I think our C isn't even in our organization, nor is our SS, our second DH/1B to go with Abreu, and we probably will end up with another OF by then as well. I think a lot of these pieces are going to come from the outside. Looking at our season's projected roster of younger & arb-eligible (pre-FA) players, Flowers, Nieto?, Abreu (basically an MLB FA), L Garcia, Gillaspie, Davidson, DeAza, Eaton, A Garcia all came outside of the organization. And looking at our starting staff, we traded for Danks when he was a prospect on another team and picked up Q as a spect. And Jones is probably going to be the only homegrown guy in the pen to start the season.

MDavidson 3B MJohnson CF/LF - OR lefty, power hitting OF via trade or FA acquisition, OR JMay TAnderson SS - rookie Bench AEngel, backing up all OF, PR rookie (2017 maybe more likely), OR Micah, if other OF above CSanchez, backing up 2B,3B,SS, PR ANieto C, rookie DVogelbach DH, PH, 1B, rookie - in trade with Cubs for JMay and A, A+ MiLB pitchers - or other young power hitting lefty or Switch DH/1B, groomed to replace VMart, LH thunder off bench SP'S Sale TDanish Q or EJohnson - the one not used for Castro, OR FA signed after 2014 or 2015 season, OR CBeck, or 2014 second Round draft pick, if college, or possibly BOrtiz, FMontas, ALopez, other JDanks - sticks around because of outperforming deal in '14 and '15, and/or disappointing trade offers, and now in last year.
