April 1, 201411 yr QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) Angels pitching coach broke his leg on the ceremonial first pitch. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/story/_...ial-first-pitch I saw that last night. Pretty freaky.
April 2, 201411 yr Hitting coach, first of all. I think he's a cancer survivor, which could be a factor in his bone strength. Really gruesome to see.
April 2, 201411 yr Yeah, it has been widely suggested that cancer contributed to this. I found it quite upsetting - not so much because of how gruesome the end product was, but how fun that moment should have been, how simple a task he was doing, and the reason it all fell apart.
April 2, 201411 yr That was so bizarre - I thought the damage was done when he was lying at home plate. Totally wasn't prepared for it to snap after he tried to get up.
April 2, 201411 yr Author Oh ok. Didn't hear the cancer part. That likely had something to do with it.
April 2, 201411 yr A similar thing happened to Dave Dravecky of the Giants, while he was piching. http://articles.philly.com/1989-08-16/spor...-cancer-surgery
