Tex can correct me but my impression is that a lot of the "world class" "NFL-Feeder" high school programs are programs that are able to recruit players from elsewhere as well.

How much money are the coaches making? The athletic directors? If all the "profit" is going to build a nice stadium that the school can use for other purposes as well, then I don't see a problem. If it's going into the pocket of administrators, then yes, maybe some should go to the players instead.

 

In college, coaches make millions dollars each year, some ADs are in the high six figures. They don't want athletes to get paid because it would come out of their pocket. How many "non-profit" bowl committes are there where everyone is making hundreds of thousands as well.

Katy, Texas pays their football coach $116,000 per year. A fair number make over $100,000. Some may have to teach a class, usually football. They will supervise a staff of 12 to 15 varsity assistant coaches, plus the lower level on down to the 7th grade football coaches all pitch in to help with scouting, etc.

 

Yes, the private schools recruit, nationally in some cases. When Hurricane Katrina hit a lot of Texas communities opened up their hearts and homes to some of the top players from Louisiana. Amazing how the top athletes wound up in the football factory schools ;)
