Rays/MLB hinting at MTL as a possible destination

Featured Replies

I think we're getting to the point where MLB should start exploring sites for expansion. Tropicana Field is not a good spot for a baseball team, but I don't think the Rays should be moving at this point because, as I recall, the Rays have some of the best local TV ratings in the league. People really do like the team, but I seem to remember that it's a bear for most people to get there and then get back home.

baseball is a marriage of local media and the city. but the city has been screwing TPA and owners. didn't they restrict them last summer on possible new sites????

the council of St Petersburg is the one holding this up. The Rays wanted just to explore locations in Tampa and STP is trying to get as much as possible from the Rays.

The mayor of STP is in favor of the Rays looking in Tampa. He actually thought he had the votes to allow them to look over the bay. the two sides are still talking and I'm sure there will be another vote this year. If that vote fails then I'll start thinking relocation might be somewhat possible.

Windsor is the city immediately adjacent to Detroit, but Toronto is the major city that is closest to Detroit.

And Toronto is about a 3ish hour drive from Detroit. Then it is still another hall to get from Toronto to Montreal.

Dang it. i guess i will never pass a geography test.
