I'd find it awfully refreshing if one of these athletes had the balls to tell the truth and say "I chose the White Sox because they offered me the most money and that's what's important because it's my best chance for a payday and athlete's careers are short."

Who knows if it's true but supposedly the Yankees never made an offer to robertson. Probably knew what he was asking for, shopped around and chose to save those 10mil by signing miller instead and go with betances as the closer. Imo, the term "chose" should be used when 2 teams(or more) offer around the same years and $$$ and then the players chooses where to go. Think it's dumb when the offers aren't really close and they say chose so and so team, like with the whole lester chose the Cubs over the Red Sox (Cubs offered 155Mil/plus 30mil signing bonus/can get up to 170mil, plus perks like jet use, Red Sox offered only 135)

But the quote was referring to the Yankees, not the Astros. The Yankees never even made him a formal offer. Either way, I can slightly alter my post.
