White Sox spent $4.37 million internationally during 2014

Baseball America has compiled estimates of each team’s international spending during the 2014 calendar year. The figures below include spending done throughout 2014, both during the second half of the 2013-14 international signing period and the first half of the current 2014-15 signing period, which began on July 2 and accounts for the overwhelming majority of the spending figures. The spending records exclude Cuban players, regardless of whether they are subject to the bonus pools, since just one of those players can swing the data significantly. The data also does not include players whose rights were purchased from Mexican League teams, since accurate, comprehensive records of those payments are not readily available, although those signings have minimal impact on the overall spending figures.

imo money well spent..... all the sox will need is to have 1 player make it and the reward is there. i hate it when JR and the sox org, prob took a self punishment of not signing, scouting or anything b/c of the wilder situation.

he is a arse hole and the sox had to pay for it.

Would you be able to post the report on the Sox signing class?

I don't see one. Usually those are subscriber only reports.

Somewhat related - the top 40 International bonuses of 2014:

White Sox:

T-20 - Amado Nunez - SS - $900K

T-27 - Jhoandro Alfaro - C -$750K

T-27 - Ricardo Mota - SS - $750K

The Sox tied the Astros and Rockies for second place having three guys on the list, the Yankees were far and away number one signing 12 of the top 40.

Since it is behind a paywall I don't want to plagiarize the content of the article. Here are some names though that we really did hear about signing last summer.

Jose Colina - C - Venezuela

Edinxon Arias - RHP - Venezuela

Jorgen Rosas - SS - Venezuela

Andres Sanchez - RHP Cuba (via Venezuela)

Carlos Perez - C - Venezuela

Yosmer Solorzano - RHP - Dominican Republic

A lot of good things about each. Interesting that Carlos Perez is the brother of the other Carlos Perez that the Sox were rumored to be interested in when they selected Nieto in the Rule 5 draft.

a nice wide array of positions, except for the outfield.

They signed three catchers and three shortstops, they are all unlikely to remain at those positions. Nunez was being talked about as a 3B last year when he signed, so some of these guys will get moved around once they are in pro ball and it is determined whether they can handle the position long term. I wouldn't read too much into the positions that they are playing at this time, if they can handle SS, they can be plugged in anywhere on the diamond.

i guess in a way i know that, but i was being a little too suave (spanish adj which i failed)

but you are extremely right. from a ss position, that is the based, that means they have the talent to handle any positions.

I knew of Perez, everyone should follow Ylexander Villarroel from the DSL
