September 8, 200322 yr We need to take a minimum of 3 outta 4 from them this series. I figure that later when we go into the rollerdome we'll probably be lucky to get 1 of 3.
September 8, 200322 yr We need to take 3 out of 4 here and 2 out of 3 there... Just last month we swept here and took 2 out of 3 there...

September 8, 200322 yr With our $9 million arm going aginst Lohse, Monday is a Must Win if we expect to take 3 outta 4. Series like this are why most folks got excited when Bartolo arrived. he needs to come up big -- and keep Koskie, AJ, Jones and the other lefties IN THE PARK.

He stepped up against Boston & NY I think he'll be fine.
September 8, 200322 yr Bartolo will be fine, just don't show him this site....HSC might hurt his feelings. She is pretty rough on the guy.

September 8, 200322 yr Author :fyou him he gets paid to be good he better show the hell up and win.... Well, it's this time of year that we find out who's worth what their being paid. I think he's gonna put in another awesome effort tomorrow. I betcha he gets picked apart in the rollerdome though.

September 8, 200322 yr If we win 5 of 7 from the Twins and 5 of 7 from the Royals, the season is over. We win. It is that simple.
September 8, 200322 yr If we win 5 of 7 from the Twins and 5 of 7 from the Royals, the season is over. We win. It is that simple. Exactly right. The Sox know this too, we have played very well against Minnesota the last few times we've seen them. The Sox have crushed most of the Twins starting pitching. The only two games that could be offensive struggles might be Tuesday (Twins have not decided) and whenever we face Santana. I like our chances though. Let's do it boys. CWSOX45
September 8, 200322 yr what I find interesting is that Minnesota is starting this Pulido guy tuesday against Buehrle. don't know much about him, other than he was in the minors most of the season and he's a bit older. Can anybody deliver the word on the Tuesday Twinkies starter?
September 8, 200322 yr Can anybody deliver the word on the Tuesday Twinkies starter? He's gonna pitch well cuz we've never seen him before.
September 8, 200322 yr Juan Carlos Pulido is 32. He made his major league debut in 1994 and has not been in the majors since. Twinkies signed him out of Mexico last winter. He pitched in relief for 2 innings on 8/29, 2 2/3 innings on 8/31 and 3 2/3 on 9/3. So far in his return, one unearned run, no walks, five K's. If he's like most Mexican leaguers, and at his age, he's probably all breaking stuff, changeups, that sort of thing. He's a lefty. His career ERA is 5.44, but you may have to disregard that, since it's heavily weighted by his 1994 performance. He should be hittable.
September 8, 200322 yr The biggest series will be next week. Two possible situations next week. We lose or split this series and go into Minny 1 or 2 games down adn need a sweep to keep our dreams alive. Or we go in 1 or 2 games up and can hook 'em. This series is bug but not nearly as big as next weeks.

Take care of business HERE and NOW and put the Twinks in the position of hoping to recover...
September 8, 200322 yr I think I heard over the weekend that Minnesota has won something like 20 out of the last 21 games vs. Detroit. They're due for a couple losses, regardless of how bad Detroit is--aren't they?
September 8, 200322 yr I think I heard over the weekend that Minnesota has won something like 20 out of the last 21 games vs. Detroit. They're due for a couple losses, regardless of how bad Detroit is--aren't they? Detroit has quit on this season. I wouldn't count on them for much help at all.
September 8, 200322 yr I play a lot of match play golf and to stay in the right mental state you always expect your opponent to hit the miracle shot, recover from anywhere on the course. Assume the Twins are going to sweep the worst team in MLB history. If Detroit manages a win that will be a gift. We have to beat Min and KC head to head. No other scenario his probable enough to worry about. We have tough games against our likely playoff opponents ahead.

They're due for a couple losses, regardless of how bad Detroit is--aren't they? If we knock Minnesota down real good this week, they could go into the Detroit series with a HUGE negative mental attitude and blow that series, putting them even further behind. That's why THIS is the biggest series. Thank God we have 4 of the 7 games against Minnesota at home...THAT alone is huge.
