July 7, 201510 yr The sad thing is the odds are high that if the Sox are signing anyone big here, they already needed to have a handshake in place with them.
July 7, 201510 yr There is still a decent chance that the Sox are out of the game due to going over their limit this season. Obviously this didn't play out the way you would have liked but it sounds like the Sox are still on Eddy Martinez. If they do go big for Martinez, hopefully they can pull in someone like Jorge Ona as well.

Hahn basically just said that. If they find a "special guy" they will go over, if they can get two or three then it would make a lot of sense to go over. I imagine that only works if they can move some payroll from the MLB roster to afford the bonus/tax.
