Jason Dellaero to Charlotte, outright

Featured Replies

The Sox just sent this out:

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have outrighted infielder/pitcher Jason Dellaero off the club’s 40-man roster and have assigned him to Class AAA Charlotte. With the move, the White Sox 40-man roster is at 38 players.

Dellaero, 26, combined to bat .220 (58-264) with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 91 games last season between Charlotte and Class AA Birmingham. The right-hander also appeared in 14 games as a relief pitcher (one with Charlotte and 13 with Birmingham), going 2-3 with an 8.47 ERA (16 ER/17.0 IP) and 18 strikeouts.

In six seasons in the White Sox organization, Dellaero has batted .214 (465-2,169) with 55 home runs and 242 RBI.

Glad to see him off the roster. THis guy needs a lot more time before he turns into a pitcher. Hopefully the Sox will let him concentrate on his pitching full time, otherwise their is no point in teaching him to pitch, because pitching is something that takes all your concentration.

Dallero doesn't want to pitch.

Then he can enjoy his minor league career, cause he is nothing. He's pretty good defensively, but he makes Royce look like Tony Gwynn at the plate.

If Dellaero doesn't want to pitch, then what? He sure can't hit worth s***.

.214 shows he doesn't want to hit much, either.

I never said he could hit,I was replying to Chisoxfn's assertion that he can concentrate on pitching.

ahhh but i bet his momma keeps telling him he can hit.

Does the fact that they picked this particular time to make this move, and open up another roster slot, point to the possibly that KW has something in the works and is making room for new acquisitions?

I've been thinking that. That opens up two roster spots. One could be for a pitcher, while the other for a catcher, who knows.
