When's the last time the White Sox brought up an outfielder from AA to the big leagues?

It's been a long time, wracking my brain for any recent examples. Seems they prefer their position players to progress through both BIRM and Charlotte.

Beckham is the last position player that really flew up through the system.

My boy Micker went 3-5 HR and 3 RBIs

May is playing in Charlotte now.

Jacob May doubled twice for Charlotte. You'd have to think they're keeping a close eye on him with OF depth being so thin at the moment. Adolfo had a three hit night including a homer.

Didn't May just come off the disabled list? I'm sure he's close to being called but shuck is playing well. He'll move back to the 4th OF role once Jackson comes back. Wouldn't mind seeing May instead of Coats right now.

If all things go well May will be starting in CF next year or is a 4th OF. I would rather him still develop and not sit the bench, he has a higher ceiling then Coats IMO

I'm fine with that also. I'd like to see him up and take Avi's spot. At least he'd get ABs and plays the outfield competently.

May "only" has a career minor league OPS line of 715.

That translates to what, 625-650 at best at the MLB level? He needs more at-bats, and right now he profiles more as a 4th outfielder unless his defense is equal or better than Thompson's.

2015=661

2016=657

So, with those two higher level numbers in mind, you're talking lucky to hold a 600 OPS. That just won't work. At a minimum, you'd like that number to be 725-750ish if not higher.

Didn't realize he played at the now-famous Coastal Carolina.

I understand that but he couldn't be worse than Coats and is a better defender. Plus would give him a quick taste oh the majors.

To develop into a major league hitter, May needs more time in the minors and consistent at bats to do that. Bring him up, and, yes we get better than Coats, but highly risk stunting his development. And the Sox need a young major league CF.

In other words, Coats was "expendable" to the organization in terms of sitting him on the bench, May probably isn't. Same with Engel. Need one of them to make it, to fill the Austin Jackson role.

Of course, it would be more ideal if that CFer could put up a 700-725 OPS with solid/above average defense.
