  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) would you say the PS4 slim isnt enough? Is this about hard drive space? It depends on how many games you think you're going to play. 500 gigs sounds like a lot until you realize every game has like a 30-60 gig install at this point. Mine is full right now and I'm playing a game of chicken until I decide to put in a new one (not really looking at a pro).
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 05:06 PM) Yeah I won the league last year. My focus on the draft is obviously to improve my starting pitching. I've seen worse though. I actually like all of those guys. I don't know who is available, but I would prioritize a decent innings eater since it's hard to count on more than 150 from Strasburg. After that, you can get away with just talking a few high upside guys like Matz, Nola or McCullers. Edit- Assuming those guys aren't too expensive of course. About $4 per player isn't ideal. Might need to aim lower like Cotton or Eickoff.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) It's still just a rumor. It's a decent deal for Boston, but they give up Bradley whom I'd much rather have than Crowder. I'm also unsure how Bradley can be dealt route now given his injury status. I never considered the possibility of building Okafor into a Butler/Celtics package, but that changes things immensely. The guy is still just 20 years old and will wind up a steal for the team which acquires him. The problem with Bradley is that he's a FA after next year and will probably get PAID. Crowder is dirt cheap until 2020. I don't strongly care about either since they would be trying to suck. Get the 2017 Brooklyn pick (f***'em if they want protections), Brown and other picks and/or the foreign guys. I've never really been a Smart fan either.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) I have to ask the question...I realize George Karl didn't work in Sacremento, but why is George Karl a bad coach? Guy has been very successful in a couple different destinations. He's not a bad coach, he's a bad fit. He's notoriously demanding and kind of a jerk. Did you see the quotes from his book? He's not exactly the best fit with a moody superstar, which is kind of funny given how many he worked with. He was also at the tail end of his career and didn't seem to give a s***.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) Cousins is a coach killer, he isn't Lebron or MJ. He is in his 7th year. Last years 33 wins were the most with him on the team.maybe he won't be a problem in NO, but that would be bucking the trend since high school. They were horrible with him. They will be more horrible without him, but may be better in 6 or 7 years without him, and paying him $240 million wouldn't have made the situation any better. All that said, they weren't going to suddenly be good. And as long as they have the same decision makers, they either need to be incredibly lucky with no brainer selections or they will just suck anyway. What GM says he had a better offer a couple of days earlier but settled for this one? What owner thinks you can run an NBA team like an 8th grade girls team and get the same results? GarPax has been bad, and deserve to go, but it could be worse. They could be Vlade Divac. The Bulls lost a coin flip with the Lakers once so they wound up with David Greenwood instead of Magic. That sucked, but if they won that flip, they never would have had Michael. Maybe something similar happens here. Cousins is a good player, but he has his issues. Maybe they will become awful enough to get the next guy who really transcends the game. It wasn't like Boogie was going to lead them to the promised land. If you're waiting for MJ or Lebron, you're going to wait a long-ass time. Very few players can get you more than 40-45 wins by themselves. Assigning all of the blame for the lack of wins on Boogie is silly to me. Yes, he's a prickly personality. So is MJ by most accounts. The situation doesn't do him any favors either. He got along with Malone and they were doing okay, but then they fired him and hired George freaking Karl. I'm not going to type all of their mistakes, but avoid even a few and they can be a playoff team. Hell, they're 1.5 out right now. Now they're Sixers-bad with morons running the team. At least get a piece that is going to do something to help fix that in the long term.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 07:07 AM) They were f***ed either way. This probably gets them closer to actually selecting first in the next few years. But as long as their owner is involved in basketball decisions, they are going to have to hit the jackpot in the draft for a chance to be decent. You mean like the time they got Demarcus Cousins? You can't expect any better.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) . This season, Yabusele is averaging 21.5 points, 9.5 boards, 2.1 assists, 1.0 blocks, 1.3 steals and 2.0 treys on 54.2 percent from the field and 68.9 percent from the line in China with the Shanghai Sharks. You already put too much effort into Chinese league stats. Nothing against Yabusele, but Jimmer Fredette just dropped like 76 points in a game. As for the Celtics as a whole, you can't keep 20 guys on a roster, so they have to do something at some point. Guys like Smart and Brown looked better as picks and it's not totally their fault because Boston just has a lot of guys. There's some of that even with the Brooklyn pick this year. 3 of the top 4 prospects are point guards. What are they going to do, bench Thomas? That's why I do what I can to get Jimmy if I'm them (or Boogie, but it's a little late there). At some point, most of you assets don't look like assets anymore.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 20, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) I completely disagree with you. the 90's was Chicago and that's it. Now if Shaq had not bolted to LA and Penny had stayed healthy then we're talking. We could've had a legit rivalry. Pat Riley tried with Mourning/Hardaway. But gmab. Utah in '98. Nobody thought they were really better. But that they had homecourt. That and only that was supposed to be the difference. If you think today's era is bad, and that's fair, the 90's were even worse. You could say the same thing about right now. There's 3 teams that can win, with maybe a 10% chance of someone like Toronto, Boston, LA or Houston winning. Even the Spurs are lagging a bit, but I won't count them out. The east wasn't very good after Boston and the Bad Boys fell off, but you could say the same thing since Rose's knee blew up. It's not like the teams LeBron faced to get to the Finals were any better than Zo/Hardaway, the Doherty/Price Cavs, the Reggie/Schrempf Pacer teams or the Knicks. There was also way more parity in the west. Houston, Phoenix, Seattle, Utah and the tail end of the Lakers were all legit. The OKC blowup really hurt that for the west. This is a weird time right now. Some of the west contenders are going in the wrong direction and no one has risen up in the east yet. We need another couple of years for these young guys to grow up.
  9. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 20, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) If Philly swaps with Kings, and their pick is outside of top 10, do we in turn get that pick? I don't know for sure, but I doubt it. Also, Philly still sucks.
  10. Contract the Kings. That's abysmal. Probably 20 teams can top that easily, so I can't blame any single one for underestimating the stupidity of the Kings. One other thing I haven't really seen mentioned: Philly can swap picks with the Kings this year. Without Boogie, they're basically a D-League team. Even if they don't end up worse than Philly, it's like the Sixers get two solid shots at the top-3. The Kings should just hire Hinkie since they already did step 1.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 12:37 PM) No, Okafor is. Not Noel. Noel is tailor-made for today's nba under the right coaching and system. Embiid, after sitting out two years, was putting up per 36 stats that rival Wilt. Simmons is a poor man's LeBron. easy. They're top 3 with all healthy. They botched okafor/unicorn, but the point is they were in position to botch it. We don't know what Simmons is yet. He could just as easily be a poor man's Nicolas Batum for the next year or two. He's certainly nowhere near the scorer that even young LeBron was. That team also has zero NBA caliber guards and who knows how durable Embiid will be long term. Now maybe in 2 years they have something, especially if they get one of those PG in the draft and they pan out. Right now, they're not an "easy" anything.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 07:06 AM) You're not paying attention then. The super team, pace and space era is the greatest era of basketball we've ever seen. They're plenty of good teams in the league. 20 years ago the Rockets (let alone the warriors spurs and cavs) are breaking records against the watered down, best international player in the game at that time might've been Toni Kukoc 90's era. lol. But even the bad ones, say Philly and Denver, have great upside. Really, other than the Nets, Knicks (until they trade Melo), Bulls and Kings, every other team in the league has upside. add the pelicans to the list of teams with no upside. poor anthony davis. I just noticed the Rockets part now. Come on, that team is completely pedestrian other than Harden. Who's their second best player, Eric Gordon? There are a ton of similar situations right now, one great player and a lot of role guys. There are also way more teams that are uninteresting with no chance to win anything like Atlanta, Charlotte or Memphis on the high end and Detroit, the Lakers, Orlando and Phoenix on the low end. Add Dallas and Miami too even though they're hot lately, and teams like Indiana and Minnesota still have a lot of work to do before they realize any "upside." OKC and Portland aren't winning anything either, but at least they have fun players.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 10:04 AM) Oh, it's already there. He's just not uncorking it yet. At age 22, KD shot 46%. At age 22, Giannis is shooting 53%. At age 22, Giannis is currently 8th in the league in PER (26.71). At age 28, with 3 other all-stars on his roster, KD is 5th in PER at 27.62. An argument can be easily made that Giannis is already playing at the level of KD despite being 6 years younger. He's shooting 53% because he's at almost 68% within 5 feet of the rim (which is pretty absurd) and 482 of his 869 shots are in that range. The jumper really isn't there yet. He's at 38% from 5-9 feet, 33% from 9-14, 36% from 15-19, 28% from 19-24, and 34% from 25-29 (0-6 from 30+). Those range from average to bad. He's very good but totally different from KD as an offensive player.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) lol Who knows, Wisconsin has been struggling the last few games. It seemed like they couldn't score when NU doubled Happ. Granted they missed a few open looks, but they need to work on getting Hayes going when that happens.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 06:45 PM) Bulls are dangling McBuckets and Lopez looking for first round picks. They traded two firsts for McDermott in the first place. We can get those back, right?
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) It appears being an up-and-coming stud out of Chicago is not good for business. Someone needs to go cover Anthony Davis in bubble wrap right now. He's already fragile!
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Northwestern gonna play themselves onto the bubble. Tough schedule rest of the way They haven't had Scottie Lindsey the last two games due to illness. He's their leading scorer and probably their 2nd best defender. The broadcast said he should be back for Wisconsin on Sunday, but they also said that for tonight in the previous game.
  18. I don't think it's likely, but it would be the Cubbiest thing ever if Lester comes in and get shelled after this quick hook.
  19. I liked RDR more in theory than in practice. Great setting and story, but the game play seemed to be all of the worst parts of GTA. It took forever to get to way points and so many missions were "go here, then go here, kill everyone, the end." The gun play was pretty basic too, really easy to stay in cover the whole time and one-shot kill with bodyshots. Undead Nightmare was fun though.
  20. While I agree with his premise, I don't think his solution is the right answer. A flagrant foul is a bit excessive, and I do think that the defender has a right to the space if he legitimately establishes position. You would be putting defenders in positions where they have to feebly swipe at the ball or go vertical, and someone like James Harden will shoot even more FT's than he already does. They just need to call a block consistently when the help player is sliding in and not already established.
  21. Damn, needed 16 more yards to win! At least I got a win in my other league.
