  1. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) Which I wasn't able to see. I can see this. f***. hate the Twins
  2. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) Definitely, but 3 hits on 2 outs is just plain annoying. I seem to recall someone doing that to Joakim Soria on Wednesday...
  3. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Nothing like just turning on the Twins game seeing them down 1-0, then they get 3 hits all near outs, just outside the gloves. Now it's 2-1 Twins. The analysts made a good point, 1st basemen should have been guarding the line on Span's hit
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Not you. LH. I pegged you as fair and balanced. You come up with the worst case scenario for one and the worst case for another. Well I think my point came across wrong, so let me try again. I was never a fan of the trade, so I'm not just trying to shoot down everything you say. Jackson's well-documented inconcistency as well as the $$$$ issue made me really question the deal. I just have an issue that you say that it's a guaranteed economic failure no matter what happens. Hudson definitely could have been a solid inexpensive starter for 5-6 years for the Sox. But he also could have had some struggles and been moved out of the rotation at some point, then your 350k goes to nothing anyway. The former is a much more probable result than the latter, but either could happen. Then the cheaper pitcher gave you little anyway, so maybe spending the money for EJax was worth it. I think that down the line, the Sox will definitely wish they had held onto Hudson, unless 2011 turns out to be magical, but I can't already doom the trade a 100% failure without letting the players play.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) Huh? My point is fairly obvious. Edwin Jackson is a ? until proven otherwise. As is Hudson. But he's a cheap ? that doesn't get expensive for quite sometime. Big difference. So what if that cheap ? flames out and is in the minors for good by the end of 2011 or 2012? Is it still an economic fail? One side has the expensive Jackson, the other has a cheap pitcher who couldn't cut it in the majors? (I'm not trying to hate on Hudson. But that is a possible (more unlikely) outcome of the trade and I wonder if it would still be considered a failure?)
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) I don't recognize Manny's tenure on the South Side. I'll forget the sweet, sweet sig you made last fall.
  7. Bummer, I was hoping to see him bat at the Cell this weekend. Still one of the best and most feared hitters I ever saw. Looks like his career ends with him "being Manny" with all these stupid drug issues.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) The badness of our bullpen has been ridiculously overblown so far this year. Especially the back of the bullpen giving up 5 runs in 2 innings in a 14-4 game.
  9. Don't forget about Anaheim either. They have been playing well and own the tiebreaker, but a home and home with the Kings is no cakewalk. I could see an OTL in Anaheim and a regulation loss in LA, then the Hawks would need only 2 points to knock them out. I guess Bolland may skate today. He obviously won't play this weekend but if he was available for a potential matchup with the Sedin sisters, that would be absolutely huge.
  10. For everyone's amusement, I found this discussion while Googling that 2004 shooting. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18486
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) OK, B-R is confusing me. It may be even less than 44 games with an appearance in the outfield for Lillibridge. It's 22. I think you are doubling up the OF stats along with the LF/RF/CF with are listed separately.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) Spring training in Glendale. 2011 He played in 19 of a possible 31 games (Not even excluding split squad days) and averaged over 3 AB's per game. Thats not exactly limited playing time, especially compared to how he would be used during the regular season.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) He wouldn't be a full time player this year. He'd be a situational DH/PH. He seems to hit better with limited playing time. When has that ever happened? Everytime he has been in the majors, he has basically been an everyday player.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) And Mark Kotsay was just one guy on the roster last year. The difference was that Ozzie played Kotsay nearly every freaking day in the middle of the lineup. Lilli or Milli are just the last guy on the bench, who might get 5 ABs a week, maybe one pinch running appearance.
  15. He Didn't Leave a 'Lastings' Impression A FanGraphs analysis of Milledge and his "potential", which IMO is a spot on breakdown.
  16. At least the Nick Swisher trade paid off for something.... Too early?
  17. I guess I should have put my post in green, thought the extra referee bashing would make it obvious it was a joke.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) One of my favorite shows I ever saw was Elton and Billy Joel playing together. Awesome. I saw them at Wrigley, it was a great show. At least one of them was on the stage for like 3.5 hours straight. And the people watching was nearly worth the price of admission as well.
  19. Illinois is not on that list? Media always hating on the Illini, just like all referees.
  20. Hawks catch a small break, Zetterberg to miss the final two games
