Eh, none of the guys I listed in my original post are sure-fire starters on many teams. Maybe the Cubs since they need a 2B? These guys are more likely to be bench additions than starters once they sign.

Shanahan blew this game IMO. Got away from the running game. Why? I have no idea. It was working. He had Jimmy G throwing the ball when they needed to kill the clock with the lead. Terrible coaching.

I’d take him if he came cheap but he isn’t a perfect fit because of that clubhouse cancer shadow around him and also he actually has reverse splits and hits righties better than lefties as a righty-handed hitter. He would be nice corner outfield insurance for injuries to Eloy or Mazara but he’s not a great platoon-mate for Mazara in RF.

Rumors in New England are Holt to the Pirates but I would love to see Hahn get him.
Age doesn’t matter much when you haven’t shown you can hit. The Giants gave Yolmer a one year minor league deal. He’s likely a cheap one year bench bat for them, just like any of these guys.

I look at Mendick much the way I look at Keuchel,Bumgarner Ryu . Keuchel was the cheapest of the bunch but you can't say for sure he will be less valuable then the other 2. Mendick is Keuchel . He is likely to be just as valuable as anyone in his limited role. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he is capable of equal WAR as Madrigal. His versatility and willingly to do anything the Sox say to be up with the big club might actually be hurting his chances of being more than he appears to be.
Of course he might not ever be as impressive as he was during his brief call up too.
I don’t know. I’d be happy with any of the guys in my list above, other than Kipnis who looks to be done. I’d be fine waiting until one of these guys accepts a bargain basement offer.
