I think the “operating in stealth mode” strategy is more so they don’t piss off the fans even further when they whiff on Harper just like they did when they whiffed on Machado.

I hope you are right and the Phillies fail but I don’t see another team that makes more sense to nab him other than the Sox, but it seems Harper will be too expensive for their tastes.

Yes, I thought that was strange that Hahn acknowledged that the Sox reported contract offer was fairly accurate during that interview with Lawrence Holmes. It does appear that the Sox front office wanted the fans to know that they were the runner-up and that they tried. Embarrassing.

Who is we? After the Padres signed Machado, it was pretty obvious that the Sox front office was completely hoodwinked.

So how could the same guy who wrote an article on the Sox signing both Harper and Machado not be pessimistic about the Sox front office after they apparently will miss on both guys? Something doesn’t add up.

Yep, Arenado is a pipe dream. Rockies will want to extend him and the Yankees will be all over him. Trout? I doubt there is one Sox fan who thinks the Sox would land him unless he is 36 years old.

People like to say there will be other opportunities. Who? None will be as young, good, and realistically attainable as both Machado and Harper this offseason.

He’s waiting for his magic number which I’m sure he will get. And natural talent and ability like Harper probably doesn’t need much time to get ready for the season.
