Lefty hitters usually struggle against lefty pitchers. I would like a manager that acknowledges this, factors in analytics, and creates his lineup accordingly. Instead, Ricky starts swearing when a reporter brings up analytics.

There’s a reason Theo just let Maddon go for Ross. He wants Ross to make the lineups based on analytics and worry about managing the in-game decisions.

Agreed, if David Price is out of range to take on in terms of talent and money I would be fine with Keuchel. I would also be fine with Ryu. I don’t think Bumgarner would be the greatest fit and will likely be overpaid so he’s already out of the Sox comfort range but I wouldn’t complain.

I still think they should have done better than Mazara but I agree with you there. If they don’t add a couple legit starting pitching options and some relief help, this offseason will be a failure.

Very strange comment. I assume he is referring to Rowand but Sox fans liked Rowand because he was a pretty good player on offense and defense for a couple seasons. I personally don’t like Engel or Mazara because they are simply bad players.

Try to look at consistency over their most recent seasons. Your agenda is to say a much better and consistent hitting player is a worse option than a much cheaper player who can’t hit just because he has potential. It’s almost like Hahn and Kenny are trying to sell Mazara to us directly.

If you choose to go by his pretty consistent stats over his supposed unlocked potential, Mazara isn’t even a full 1 WAR outfielder! 2016: 0.5 WAR 2017: -0.1 WAR 2018: 0.8 WAR 2019: 0.7 WAR

The Sox are supposed to have money to spend after spending zilch over the past few years. If a Castellanos or Ozuna contract was ever going to hamstring the Sox for years to come, how are they ever going to acquire the starting pitching they need? How is there any hope at all if a $70 to $100 million dollar contract hamstrings them? You are also making it sounds like expensive outfielders like Castellanos/Ozuna were the only options the Sox had over Mazara.
