  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 7, 2005 -> 05:19 PM)
    What team did Timo Perez play for in Japan?

    The Hiroshima Carp!

    Who were the two other White Sox players traded with Keith Foulke for Koch and Cotts?

  2. El Duque's Pitch Counts:

    Start one: 104

    Start two: 97

    Start 3: 96

    Start 4: 111

    Start 5: 118

    Start 6: 116

    Average is 107, but the last 3 games would be a heavy load trend.

  3. QUOTE(Wedge @ May 6, 2005 -> 11:40 AM)
    I'd like to agree with that, but if the Yankees' rotation gets healthy, they are pretty damn good.

    What the Yankees' players really have to do is get younger, and that's hard to do.

  4. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 6, 2005 -> 06:58 AM)
    Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko, Shingo are all concerns and people we will desperately need when we start facing the Dodgers, Red Sox, Yanks, Angles, etc.

    Yanks are tied for last place, with an old pitching staff. I'll take my chances. Actually, our pitching staff matches up with anybody's.

  5. I went through the box scores to see how we've done in innings 7 through 9.

    We have outscored the opposition 42 to 26 in those innings.

    If we give up a run in late innings, we usually control the damage. 12 times we have given up only one run. 4 times the opposition scored more than 1 run. (By the way 2 of these 4 times were in the same game, the second Oakland game.)

    When we score in late innings, 10 times we have scored more than 1 run. Nine times we have score just one.

    So, it's a tribute to our bullpen, and the feeling that we're never out of a game.

    Harry Caray, when he did our games, use to say to Piersall, "You know Jimmy, it's like I always say...the big dogs walk late!" We walked late twice yesterday!

  6. Slumps happen. Friday night he killed a ball with the bags full, and it was right at the third baseman. He's labelled a couple of balls down the line, just foul. He'll be fine, let it go.

    I think it would be a mistake, and one KW wouldn't make, to tie his slump to his contract situation.

  7. The first time I heard this line of thought was from Tony La Russa, a few years ago. I think he used win 50 lose 50 and 62 others. My reaction was that it was typical Tony crap, in that it sounds deep and means nothing. If you say so what to it, you realize that there's no meaning to it. Saturday's game - we came from behind to win. Was that a game we were always gonna win - one of the win 50 or 60? Or was it one of the third category? And who gets to say which it was? It's just goofy.

  8. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 06:57 AM)
    Rey Ordonez is a major league glove.  Would you like him too?

    All I want is the White Sox in postseason play. Something to keep Widger behind the plate, Crede at third and Willie not at shortstop would help achieve that goal.

  9. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:58 PM)
    As for Willie, quite honestly it isnt his range or glove that worry me about him filling in at SS for now...its his freaking arm that scares me.

    Man, you could run a poll about what the worst part of Willie's game is.

  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 03:50 PM)
    Are you high?  Neifi Perez is going to stop hitting like Babe Ruth in about a week and then he will go on a 0 for 50 streak.  He is horrible.

    I'm not high, and I don't care about his bat. I think Perez is a major league glove, and I just saw the Crede-Widger-Harris combo. I would like never to see that again.

    For what it's worth, I suspect the Cubs wouldn't trade Perez for Cliff and Pablo.

  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:33 PM)
    No offense, but either your wife is drinking or Ozzie is :bang

    No offense taken - but she doesn't drink and she's not on drugs. We may want to do both after we see this infield this afternoon.

  12. Mrs. Al Lopez's Ghost tells me she heard we are starting Crede at short, Harris at second and Widger at third. Busy day for Konerko, I'd say.

    Ozzie must want to win this game in the worst way!

  13. Yeah, well you only can carry 25 guys - who you gonna get rid of? We're already deciding what happens if and when Frank comes back. Unless you think Neil Cotts could be improved upon, which I suppose is possible.

  14. QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:02 AM)
    The only guys I could see the sox trading would be someone like Jenks, Adkins or Baj. If the sox could get a decent SP prospect, they should do it. You can never have enough solid SP's.

    Right now I'd like a healthy middle infielder.
