  1. Konerko, you can sit, but no reason to sit Crede. let him play through this. he is young and needs to learn how to get out of these slumps. not like we are contention anyway, and he really isn't hurting us.
  2. you still don't get it. jsut because someones error doesn't cost a team a game, doesn't mean it isn't costly. as shown today, a HUGE game for us, play hit to Valentin, and he botches it. this just so happens be the time that it hurts us unlike other times where we bail him out. we had no chance to bail him out today.
  3. mine was sarcasm, which doesn't take what I said as my honest belief. when I say "he's the great player in the MLB" sarcasticly, it doesn't mean I really think people here feel he's the greatest, but people here do feel he's a good player, which is just stupid. as I said for over two years years now, Valentin doesn't help this team. I'm not saying this based on the play he made today, but the fact that these are things he does, whether the game is on the line or not. a good defensive player makes that play and we are playing as we speak.
  4. wasn't easy, but wasn't hard either. should've been caught, but he brings range, a strong arm, baserunning skills and clutch hitting, so it is okay, because Valentin is the greatest player in baseball. by the way, I'm being sarcastic.
  5. why does a player have to put GREAT numbers to be good to some people? Jimenez isn't average at best on a good day? first of all, on his good day he's goes 3-4 with a double, walk, RBI, two runs scored. not an average day. second, his bad day (0-4) is still more productive than most guys on this teams 2-4 day. He has good 0-4 games, which sadly is never considered in baseball. Let's face it, no player in baseball is going to hit every day. Most players in baseball carry a .260-270 average, which means they are getting outs 74% of the time. I would love taking Jimenez 74% of outs over a lot of guys for the fact that he rarely swings at bad pitches, takes a lot of pitches, has great composure and such a level and consistent swing. Jimenez is a guy who will go 0-4 with a walk, 25 pitches seen, a line out, and two groundouts and/or fly outs to the right side that will allow a man on second to get to third. that is the difference, a good 0-4 game.
  6. lol, HSC. I'm just saying Sox fans should spend more time supporting their team instead of praying for the Cubs to lose, and Cub fans should be spending more time studying their team instead of ripping our ballpark or the fact that we get little attention.
  7. really, look at your board name. it is focused around the cubs. I don't get that.
  8. I don't get involved in many sox/cub conversations, but I see them, and for the most part, it is what i said. I just don't get why some sox fans are more intuned to the Cubs woes than the Sox play.
  9. "Paying the rest of Durhams salary and losing Valentine as the PTBNL. When Cotts, Adkins, And Bradford make it to the big leagues, let me know. Until then, KW got OWNED! " you said "when cotts makes it to the bigs, let me know" and a sentence before said KW screwed up because he also gave up Valentine, another guy who hasn't reached the bigs, in the deal. basically, you said KW was stupid to give up a minor leaguer (Valentine) and was stupid to get a minor leaguer (Cotts). see what I'm saying? sorry for being in a dickhead mood lately, I'm allowed that once every so often.
  10. the Barry Berry trade was terrible, no doubt, so was the Durham deal. but those were the only deals that were bad from the get go. I know people say the Ritchie trade, but it had merit at the time. KW has made a couple bad moves, but he's made some damn good ones too, which gets overlooked way too often. I'm not sitting here telling you guys to praise KW, he's a pretty good GM, but try to look at it all and see that he's made good trades, all of his trades made sense in some way and he's been aggressive. really, for so many years the Sox have had a sit back and wait style team. KW has thrown that out the window and has taken chances for better or worse. he admits he takes chances and admits when they go bad. if he were to leave tomorrow, I wouldn't care, but he's done just as much good as bad, which isn't bad considering the lousy history this team has.
  11. there a two outcome to trades. how the trade looks at the time, how the trade turns out to be. just because a trade turns out bad, doesn't mean it was bad from the get go. s*** happens. I hate it how people blame everything on KW. is he a good GM? eh, not really, but is he the cause of ALL PROBLEMS and is he THE WORST GM IN THE BASEBALL? no. I swear, I think I'm just gonna write something up, showing all his moves so I can copy and paste it to prove all that are against him wrong.
  12. wow, showing off you knowledge eh cubkilla? you say we gave up Valentine deal, which was bad, yet turn around and say when Cotts makes it to bigs, let me know. umm, Valentine isn't in the bigs last time I checked. why do would throw Bradford in it? he was in a totally different deal, a deal which was even (OLIVO FOR BRADFORD).
  13. it doesn't matter jas, he's been hustling all year, people don't care though, they just like to go by one players comments in the past. make this the third time Jimenez got hurt this year and still stayed in and played. a lot of players would've been on the bench right now.
  14. angels have a new owner who would love to make himself known. it is two years down the road too, so money can't really be considered till then.
  15. umm, three trades between the two teams, one was a bad deal (Durham) the other two were even (olivo/bradford koch/foulke), so how does he get owned?
  16. I've dealt with just as many cub fans as most sox fans, I just don't get how the intelligent level when sox/cubs conversation comes up drops so much. it is basically, sox suck, cubs suck, sox suck, cubs suck....... pretty sad. if people are going to complain about a team, especially one that is in another league, at least make it interesting.
  17. who cares about the Cubs? why do Sox fans care about the Cubs? we got enough to worry about for our own team.
  18. http://whitesox.theinsiders.com/2/113544.html Series Preview: Cleveland Indians By Mario Scalise Date: May 30, 2003 After falling in the first two games of the four-game series against the red hot Blue Jays only to cool them off and win the final two, the White Sox will hope to carry the momentum into Cleveland for another four-game set as they face the Indians. Opponent: Cleveland Indians Record: 20-32, .385, 11 GB (AL Central) Place: Jacobs Field Time & TV: Game 1: 6:05 p.m. (FSN); Game 2: 12:15 p.m. (FOX); Game 3: 12:05 p.m. (FSN); Game 4: 11:05 p.m. (FSN) 2002 Record vs Sox: 10-9 2003 Record vs Sox: 3-4 THE LATEST Like the White Sox, the Indians' offense isn't as prolific as it once was as indicated by their .242 team batting average and overall run total of 211, both lower than the Sox'. Offensively they are led by Ellis Burks and Matt Lawton. Lawton, after hitting .185 in April, has picked it up -- in comparison to the rest of the offense -- and is now batting .215 with 26 RBIs. The rotation is led by C.C. Sabathia (3-2, 2.73) and Ricardo Rodriguez (3-5, 4.48), and the bullpen by Danys Baez (10 SVs), whose rather high ERA of 4.68 is of a result of a five-run meltdown he had in a game against the Oakland A's. Take that away and he's only given up eight runs in 24 2/3 innings (2.92 ERA). WHO'S HOT (Last 4 Starts) C.C. Sabathia, SP: 3-0, 1.29 ERA, 28 IP, 21 K, .93 WHIP --If there is one reason to be afraid of the Indians, it is because of Sabathia. After winning 17 games for the 2001 Division Champions, recieving a lot of attention, Sabathia was rarely looked at in 2002 as he threw 210 innings, winning 13 games and posting a respectable 4.37 ERA. A year later, he appears to have hit his stride. Sabathia sprained his ankle last Wednesday and will make his first start since in this series. WHO'S NOT (Last 6 Games) Brandon Phillips, SS: 1-22, HR, 3 RBI, 4 SO The highly-prized Phillips has played far below expectations for the Indians, who obtained the 21-year-old shortstop last year from the New York Mets. In 48 games this season, Phillips is batting only .220 and has struck out 31 times. PITCHING PROBABLES Game #1: Danny Wright (0-2, 5.56 ERA, 14 K) vs. C.C. Sabathia (3-2, 2.73 ERA, 43 K) --This will be the first of two lefties the White Sox will face in this series. With Sabathia making his first start since injuring his ankle, the White Sox need get him off the mound and test his agility early. Wright is 2-1 with a 3.48 ERA career against the Indians and is coming off a strong start against the Tigers, where he went seven innings, giving up three runs. Game #2: Mark Buehrle (2-8, 5.01 ERA, 30 K) vs. Jason Davis (4-4, 5.66 ERA, 31 K) --This will be a test for Buehrle as he is facing a team and pitching in a stadium he's had on and off success at in his career. Defense is needed in this game. The Sox have a history, although short, of hitting Davis. That needs to continue. Game #3: Bartolo Colon (5-4, 3.81 ERA, 51 K) vs. Brian Anderson (2-5, 4.98 ERA, 18 K) --Colon gave up five runs in his last start, but continued his streak of four straight games with at least eight innings pitched. He's thrown eight or more innings in six of his last eight starts. Anderson found himself in the bullpen his last time out, throwing two scoreless innings, but is back in the rotation. Anderson is 3-2 lifetime against the Sox with a 5.01 ERA. Game #4: Jon Garland (3-4, 4.88 ERA, 28 K) vs. Ricardo Rodriguez (3-5, 4.48 ERA, 30 K) --If the numbers say anything, this should be the highest scoring game of the series. Garland is 1-7 in his career against the Indians, while Rodriguez is 1-3 with a 6.04 ERA in his last five starts. KEY TO THE SERIES Don't let up. The Sox have had many moments this season where it looked as if things were finally starting to turn around, but they all ended in another disheartening series defeat. The Sox can't afford another letdown to a team under the .400 mark. They must score early and add runs late to show some type of consistency with their offense. Also, because of the abundance of rest the bullpen has received over the past five games, Jerry Manuel needs to stick with the starters and not use relievers for the sake of it.
  19. Koch didn't talk s***, he said he hated the Twins (who cares), thought they caught some lucky breaks (which every winning team needs to catch, really), but they are good team (which they are). are we gonna be like the twins now and take everything said as being trash talking?
  20. that would be funny, you running out with a suit on, lol
  21. don't worry, jas, remember you said you would make me the manager, so there would be no need for people to get mad at you because we'd be winning.
  22. oh wait, he was thanking people for the board, which means I shouldn't be on the list since I've never done a damn thing with this board, DAMN, no credit for me.
  23. mark, I was second on that list, surely too low for me.
  24. yeah, he does foul off pitches, but I think when he does miss, they are on flat out bad pitches, which is something he'll avoid in time.
