I know it’s difficult to compare eras, but I think it’s amazing that Joe DiMaggio only struck out 369 times in his career and hit 361 home runs.

It seems to me that so many players on both teams are swinging at balls that are out of the strike zone.

When is the last time you’ve seen 2 1/2 innings played in a game with no strikeouts?

I guess I’m a rare bird here, but I was raised by a mother, whose family were White Sox fans and my father’s family were Cub fans. Since I lived with my mother’s family after their divorce, I went to many more White Sox games. But I was an also channel 9 cub baby so I also I’m a fan of theirs. I guess my dream would be those two teams playing in the World Series.

I have season tickets to the White Sox and I think they are more assured of postseason play than the Cubs are. I also, before the season started, I placed a $250 bet on the White Sox to win the division and I can cash out now for a handsome sum or wait till they win the division and quadruple that.

Also, to add a little physicality to the game while the team is batting, they can have a player standing anywhere in the infield and one standing anywhere in the outfield with the ability to physically interfere with a defender, trying to feel the ball.

Another rule I'd like to see is after nine innings there would be no ghost runner, but position players must pitch.

At the end of nine innings, do a rock, scissors, paper thing. Or maybe even a spelling bee.

Another rule I'd like to see is if both managers think an umpire is doing a horrible job they can throw the umpire out of the game.

How about this? Starting pitchers much pitch at least seven innings unless he becomes injured. This way pitchers would have to start actually start pitching again and not trying to throw at maximum velocity every pitch. You might actually return some artistry to the craft. It would be more action in the game because more balls would be put in play. There’s nothing exciting about 1/3 of the outs in a game being strikeouts. Also with the increased velocity with the same dimensions that have existed for 100 years, why not move the mound back a couple of feet?

Even more entertaining, select a combative fan from each team and have them slug it out on the pitcher's mound with the winners team declared victorious.
