I just called a friend, who had her cell off. So, I leave my message, but for some reason included, okay, love you bye. There's a two second pause where I realize what I've said, and then I ramble on for about 10 seconds, saying, "Um, I'm not sure what I said that. Sorry, that's totally not how I usually close my conversations. I mean, you're great and one of my best friends, but, uh um, yeah. Okay, well, I uh gotta go. Sorry. Have a good day." Agh. I need to get more sleep. (on the plus side I ordered two new studs for my nose! woot)

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) LOL, thanks, now once again I can say the same thing I said to you last time. You can't go on theories and assumptions. You go by FACTS, dumbass. And right now, The Sox>Cubs, bottom line. As I said, dillusional. Period. If you have to resort to name-calling I suggest you stay out of this thread until you calm down.

QUOTE(Big Hurt Way Back @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) If you're a true white sox fan and have the hatred for the Cubs like I do, this is most definelty a must win game!!! As opposed to the must lose games? Every game is the most important one of the season that needs to be won, be it against the Cubs, the Twins or the Royals. It's just if we lose some games we'll hear about it longer from obnoxious fans....

One more to add-- Schiphol (sp?) in Amsterdam. Easy, clear layout, clean, good shopping, and mass transit all without having to leave the building. Love it.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) That was my favorite line also. That's when I woulda jumped in and said: So enlighten me Tom, what do you know about psychiatry? This is the same bonehead who keeps using the word 'great' and no other to describe Katie Holmes. I think he also uses 'magnificent' pretty frequently. Personally, I preferred the intensely private(ly crazy) Tom Cruise.....

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) You liked Detroits airport Soxy? By the time I got out of there I was ready to blow that place up... Yeah, I liked the train thinger, I thought it was kinda neat, it was reasonably clean. And teh Acid Tunnel of Love was pretty awesome. Did you go after all the renovations? I'd never been there before them, so I don't know how bad it was....

So, it's vacation season again, and I thought I'd see what everyone's favorite place to fly to and from is. I actually like airports I think they're really interesting. My faves 1.) Minneapolis-St. Paul: always really clean, friendly people, good food court and very easy to find your way around 2.) Detroit: That's mostly due to Acid Trip Tunnel that makes me think I'm in Disney world or that someone put something in my drink. The worst: 1.) Dallas: confusing, irritating, and just general crappiness 3.) Gatwick: dirty, rude people, and kinda gross

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) same thing happens on the trains. And buses. That's the only time I get really rude, when people do that. I have been known to put up an elbow to block people from boarding when people are still trying to disembark with an accompanying rude remark. That's the only time I ever get really aggressive, and when people try to cut in line. Oh, watch out man. Don't make me angry like that.....

Last player in MLB you would get in a fight with..

Randy Johnson looks like he might fight dirty. I think he's the only one I would add to the list. -
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) From the Libertarian Party mailing list... The Supreme Court ruled today that local governments have broad power to confiscate private property in the name of "economic development." They handed down a 5-4 ruling against a group of homeowners in New London, Conn., who claimed the city is trying to illegally force them to sell their property. The city wants to make way for a hotel, an office building and other privately funded facilities. Government agencies including city and county governments have long been allowed to condemn private property so that public buildings, roads and other infrastructure can be built. Called "eminent domain," this practice is constitutional as long as the power is exercised strictly in accordance with the Fifth Amendment's "takings clause." However, the new ruling will allow local governments to claim property for the benefit for private entities, rather than restricting eminent domain to acquiring land for public use. Thanks. That is total bulls***.

Could someone provide a brief on the decision (in layman's terms)?

On a semi-related note, I watched the Oprah re-run yesterday with Tom. IMO, he looked completely off his ass. Secondly, Oprah's shoes were totally amazing. So cool. I wish I was Oprah.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) How about the people who ride just one floor DOWN during rush hour. Coinidentally, those same people are usually like 80 lbs overweight. Totally my pet peeve. And not even just during rush hour. Hello, how difficult is it to walk up or down the 11 friggin steps separating one floor? Seriously, take the damn stairs!!!! It won't kill you! Drives me up the wall...

QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) There are very few western democracies that have similar laws. That's what I thought.

It sounds like an old fashion phone ringing. My sister set my dad's to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun--at first he was mad, but then he decided to keep it because he likes it, I worry about the old man sometimes....

Just out of curiosity--do other countries have similar laws?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) WHY ARE YOU SELLING SOX GEAR? Maybe more people were wearing Sox gear than Cubs?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) BTW, MENSA members come from all walks of life. Some are actually socially adept and not afraid of the world. The geeks talk about how smart they are. I understand that MENSA people do many things, but no cool Mensa member would flaunt membership. I think in the context of the lab partner of doom, it's more about being better and smarter than everyone else than anything else. Inherently there's nothing elitist about it, until you get people being jerks about how smart they are....

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) So if my neighbors across the street are black, it's OK if I burn a cross on my lawn? I think, though, that the fundamental difference between the two things is that one is done to make people fearful and is a threat, whereas the other is more of an expression of displeasure with the policies or whatever of the country. One is, historically, tied to a threat of violence; that connotation is never to go away. The other is a (pathetic) attempt at an "eff you" to the government.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) He is cheaper than Bill Wirtz. I've heard Mr. Burns on the Simpsons was based on him.... They used to have mock interviews with "Pohlad" on the radio and it was always a Burns voice.

My friggin labmate/office partner is going on and on and on about how she's going to join MENSA. Hey good for you! Maybe you'll learn to be less socially inept--oh, wait, no probably not. Woohoo, that's great. More boring, crappy, pointless and condescending conversations about how smart you are. Sweeeeeeeeeet. I can't frigging wait. Days like this make me really, really, really miss my normal and socially competent college and high school friends.
