Wow, I'm really dumb. I swear I'm not smoking the marijuana right now.

Actually, pot (if not driving, just sitting at home smoking) is LESS dangerous than alcohol. Can't OD and die from it because it doesn't affect those parts of the brain. Completely non-lethal... Sorry, I just wanted to beat LCR to it....

Ooops, missed that one the first time around. Using that term denegrates the deaths of 6 million people in WWII. It also is incredibly demeaning to the women who have fought for equal pay for equal work, voting rights, educational rights, and much more so that women are considered more than property.... That term is disgusting and is completely unrepresentative of the Feminist movement.

I've gotta go with Fosters, Australian for Horse Piss. I can usually choke down a s***ty beer--but that stuff is too much for me. Pabst Blue gets an honorable mention in the category though...

That's horrible!!! I hope they find that baby... Correct me if I'm wrong--but hasn't this happened before?

I think that's what he means. That it's irresponsible, both socially and personally...

Teens and sweet alcohol... One of my friends does this research (i.e. gets adolescent rats drunk for a living/degree)...If the rat model is analogous to humans--these drinks are more harmful than a marketing campaign... Health - AP AP AMA Concerned About Teens, Sweet Alcohol By LINDSEY TANNER, AP Medical Writer CHICAGO - Sweet alcoholic drinks aggressively marketed to young people are anything but "cool and fashionable" and are luring troubling numbers of teens — especially girls — to engage in underage drinking, the American Medical Association said Thursday. A nationwide AMA poll of 741 youngsters aged 12 to 18 found that 31 percent of girls and 19 percent of boys had consumed drinks some call "alco-pop" or "malternatives" in the past six months. The products include fruit-flavored malt drinks with soda pop-like flavors and packaging that critics say disguises the alcohol content. The beverages, such as Mike's Hard Lemonade and Smirnoff Ice, are this generation's version of wine coolers. Teen girls said they drank the sweetened beverages more than any other alcoholic drinks, while women 21 and over ranked them as their least-consumed alcoholic beverage, a second poll showed. Jeff Becker, president of the Beer Institute, an industry trade group, said brewers "share the AMA's concern over illegal underage drinking regardless of the type of beverage being consumed." "Flavored alcohol beverages are not new products in the marketplace, and marketing for these is directed at adults," Becker said. ___ On the Net: AMA: http://www.ama-assn.org

In some places in Europe the law is .02 (Scandanavia I think). Driving has shown to be impaired at .04.... I admit at the bar while you're drinking, or at dinner, the law's a b****. But a taxi is cheaper than a life, a DUI or a wrecked car any day. But when you have friends killed by someone with a .08 or .07--it still doesn't seem like enough.... BAC Chart

Yeah, I figured that. I just don't buy into the idea of violence, "redemptive" or otherwise.

But when do Children know what is or isn't real or acceptable? My main objection to these games is that they are often used like a babysitter. Give a kid a video game and let them play--then no one has to take valuable time away from a busy schedule to read or play with them... Again, I'm not saying these games shouldn't exist--I'm saying they are completely unbeneficial to kids that could be doing things that actually stimulate them (reading, playing outside, team sports, etc).... And LCR, I would certainly NEVER let my kids watch The Passion or other pseudo-documentary crap either with that level of violence.
-
Probably nothing. If you boo it's sort of encouragement for a visiting team, and cheering, meh, why? If he ended up with the Cubs or Twins, though, all bets are off....
-
I definitely understand that most people that play these games DON'T end up murderers or violent people. But what kind of message do some of thees send? Beat up a hooker for cash? Steal cars and at the end get a reward? Aren't there more age appropriete things for kids to play? I'm not saying 16 and 17 year olds shouldn''t be allowed to play them. But I babysat for an 8 year old who played shoot 'em up games...(Well, until I saw them, then he played outside....). I think a better question is really why SHOULD people play these games? What's the benefit of them?

Yeah, I usually don't mind them, but after three straight hours. As a stats person you might enjoy this. We were given an ANOVA table and a few values and betas and stuff and told to fill it all in. That gave me the sickest joy I have ever experienced. I am officially a nerd after that.
-
No, pretty sickening IMO.
-
That's absolutely disgusting. 34th? Of all the sick stupid crap. As my dad would say, Take him out behind the shed.
-
Yep he makes a quick comment to rebut it in today's trib. Carlos/Pods article

That's what I'm hoping for too.... He has the stuff and hopefully a full season with Coop will help him live up to his potential...

Decent article Former Cubs broadcaster Steve Stone also chimed in, blaming the Cubs organization for Sosa's attitude. "If you create Frankenstein, you can't be real surprised if he eats the village," Stone said. "It's not his fault. You created him. . . . The Cubs as an organization had a very permissive attitude toward Sammy Sosa. "For 12 years, they allowed him to get away with exactly what he wanted to get away with, to do what he wanted to do. If Sammy wanted to have a guy sitting next to him on the bench, they let him do that. If he wanted to have a guy in uniform to work out with him, they let him do that. And if Sammy wanted to come to spring training late, they allowed him to do that." How true--Steve is great.

But funny! I personally prefer gonads and strife--but all of the 3 brain stuff is good... Gonads and Strife!
-
Just finished by 3 HOUR stats final. I don't want to see another ANOVA for the rest of my life....

Until he signs I'm not getting excited about him coming OR being mad about over paying.

I'd like to see Clement. I would not do that trade for RJ--that's too much for him....
