Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (BearSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) Maybe Getz? But if he was part of it, he probably wouldn't be listed as a PTBNL. Who are some MI prospects we have besides Beckham? Does Retherford count? What about Kuhn? He seems like a very Getz like player from what I've read. They have little, almost zero trade value, unfortunately. Much more valuable to the Sox than other teams. Teams don't usually trade for prospects with underwhelming tools.

Can we get a Gammons recap please? He is one of the few guys I trust/care what they say.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Hampton knows nothing about baseball on the SCORE. I should have expected this from a football guy, but he just said, Peavy didn't look good when he saw him pitch and thinks Peavy isn't that good. Has he looked at this guy's stats? And he's ONLY 27!!!

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) Hudson is so good though. He is, but we also have four picks in the top 70 or so in the draft. So we can trade some pitching and draft it right back next month. Remember how good we all thought B-Mac would be when he had his huge, incredible-peripheral year. He has been a solid MLer, but not amazing like we thought. But in that deal, you keep all the stud hitters in AA.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) I hope this is true... but even more, I hope the other two players aren't Carter or Hudson. I am okay with giving up Poreda and Richard... but not the other two. I would do that in a heartbeat. Those guys are so far away that I can live giving them up. As good as both could be, they both had real rough times at Old Dominion, so regression is real possible, too.

Come on Jake. Wake up and let us know one way or not. We are gonna be so disappointed if this doesn't go through.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:48 AM) So, how long would this phone call last? Come on Jake, you'll love it here, we have fans that know about the game, fireworks and lots of tailgating!!! Whoooooo! Why isn't Ozzie on the phone talking about any concerns Peavy might have? Although this call, and Ozzie's inability to be understood could hurt the deal, too.

I think this could show KW's strategy for the Sox in a year or so. Build around high-priced pitching and go with young offensive players.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) Right, Danks and Becks COULD be a PTBL, but its not very likely. That's why this worries me about the PTBL. Hopefully, it's to keep names secret in case the trade doesn't go down, but I am have a sick feeling, Beckham could be part of the deal. Let's hope not, though.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) Please, lets Cutler this s***! No Beckham, Danks or Flowers and lets get it done. (im well aware they would have to be PTBL) That's because they were so recently traded/drafted right?

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Our rotation would finally get the long-awaited ACE. We've always had great twos, but never that true ACE (Esteban was that for one year) for a few years. Peavy, Buehrle and Danks is nasty if you get to the playoffs.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) The Pads need a SS, would you give up Alexei? No. He is cheap and controlled for awhile. He also, as we have seen, has all the talent in the world and is going to start hitting soon. He will be fine, but he is too talented and way too cheap to trade, IMO.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Wow. If this was the Red Sox or Yankees getting Peavy, this would be all the talk on SC. Right now, it's 30 seconds from Buster Olney.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) So if they've agreed, why cant we hear who the players are? Poreda Richard Alexei? Getz? Allen? Flowers? We know Flowers was a player they wanted from the Braves. I would hope they could spare the hitting prospects, but if they had to I would give up Allen. First baseman are easier to find than catchers (even though I think Flowers moves). I think Getz, Allen, Poreda, Richard would be a lot to give up, but wouldn't set us back at all.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) What a f***ing day. I love baseball. How soon do we all hate it when Peavy declines to waive his NTC? Haha. It's such a love/hate relationship with this sport.

Just got up. What's the new stuff going with this? I don't want to look at 15 pages since my last post.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 20, 2009 -> 11:58 PM) I agree, if any other top prospect is involved, then it's a bad deal for the White Sox. I don't think Allen, Flowers, Danks, Beckham, Retherford, Viciedo or Shelby are expendable. Retherford and Shelby are definitely expendable. Also, C.J. has very low trade value. Both guys could be gone in an instant, but only Shelby has actual value of the two and his poor year is not helping his raw label.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Two days ago we are talking about blowing up the team. Now, we are talking blockbuster move. Something tells me its bogus, though. Why would the Padres do this move now? They can wait and jack up the asking price. I don't buy what that dude was selling.

5/20 Games
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) Flowers is the guy Hahn, outside of Beckham, that is apparently the most untouchable on the Sox. The rationale given was that both of them have the ability to be above average offensive weapons at there respected positions (SS & C). Even though the Sox say it, I am not convinced Flowers stays at C. I expect the Sox to take a catcher within the first four rounds of this draft.

Info on a couple Sox Spects from Rick Hahn
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) He went to the same high school you and I did, in fact I was there with him for some of that time. This is true. When I did a radio show in HS, we had him on about five times talking about the Sox. You gotta be a genuine guy to go on a HS sports radio show. He was so nice, too. Gave me his number and e-mail. I hope he stays for life because baseball needs more guys like him.

Info on a couple Sox Spects from Rick Hahn
QUOTE (BearSox @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) On a somewhat related note, I hope we can keep Rick Hahn here as long as possible. However, he's a top candidate for any future open GM spots, and unless KW takes a powder, Hahn won't be getting the White Sox GM spot any time soon. I am fairly confident Hahn won't go anywhere unless it's for what I call local jobs: Cubs, Sox, Cardinals, Brewers and maybe a couple others. He is from the area, lives with his kids in the area, family in the area, you get the picture. He wants to stay around here. He is the next GM after KW IMO, with only a few other jobs preventing that from happening. He is also a great guy.

Half-Marathon Sunday
My plan is Olive Garden with my family Saturday night. Sunday morning, cliff bar and Propel. Lots of water throughout this week, too. Will definitely let you guys know how it turns out. My goal is sub-90 minutes.
