Mike Scioscia
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) If Damaso Marte plunked Carlos Lee, I don't think Guillen would say, "I wasn't aware that they'd had any history" or "I didn't know there was a problem." He'd downplay it, to be sure, but I don't think Guillen's that type. He may not say it the exact same way Scioscia did, but he would leave it between the players. EVERY manger is going to be politically correct in that situation. You would have to have just started watching the Sox in October to think otherwise......

Mike Scioscia
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) Well, surely I understand, too, that he can't say, "That f***er had it coming" but I just think this level of dishonesty is so blatant as to be humorous/disgusting. Ozzie would be saying the same things, if the tables were turned. Scioscia's doing exactly what you're supposed to do.

AJ: "I don't know why he hit me. I don't know what I did. I didn't do anything to show him up. I just ran to first. Maybe he should hit the guy who rolled the ball back to the pitcher."

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) I was ecstatic to see Elo go, even at the time. He was dogging it the entire year, and it was pissing me off. Now the Sox have the pleasure of watching Contreras for at least 3 more years after 2006. It puts a smile on my face. Same. Not many of us we're fond of Loaiza that year. I remember he was giving up a lot of runs, but the Sox were scoring plenty for him. Yet, when he left, he said he was glad to be pitching behind a real lineup in NY that would give him support. Oh well. KW couldn't have bought low and sold high any better.

Baseball's Most Memorable HRs
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 03:11 AM) I was at a bar the night Pauly hit the slam and the place was up for grabs. It wasn't until months later that I heard Farmer's radio call of: "IT'S A SLAM, LIGHT IT UP!" That call still geeks me when I hear it and that's saying a lot cuz I hate Farmer. Pauly's was better. Haha. I was the same way. I was just watching it here with some friends, but I went insane after PK's grand slam. No question, that was my favorite moment of the playoffs. I didn't hear the HR call until the DVDs came out.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Loaiza was one of the best things to ever happen to KW. He signs ELo to a very cheap contract, and he ends up finishing 2nd in the Cy-Young race. He comes back and struggles a bit. We're able to push him off for Jose Contreras. I remember how all the baseball critics were praising Cashman for getting rid of Contreras, to get a starter such as Loaiza. And the rest is history.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) Obviously the 1.45 era isn't going to stay there but he's going to be this dominate all year. It's going to drop.

Contreras Nice contributions by Dye and Thome! We guaranteed at least a 3-3 on the West Coast, so Tony's happy.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
Bah, JO gets called on a BS foul, he's done. And the Pacers lose Game 4. Series tied 2-2, with the series going back to NJ on Tuesday.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
91-86 Nets, 1:59 left. Much like game 2, JO got into foul trouble very early and Peja's unable to play again. Pacers are trying to make this into something though.

Mario Williams to be #1 Pick
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 08:04 AM) You have to hope the Houston fans don't take their frustrations out on Mario Williams. It's hard to believe, but the #1 overall pick could be reviled by his own team's fans. That happens with with every pick involving an east coast team though. Williams will be fine.
