Did I just see a little nip in that Sex and the City commercial?

Erstad reaches base, advances the runner, doesn't make an out, yet his BA still shrinks.

Not surprised one bit except for Jenks, but this bullpen is very impressive.

Polanco never walks. Not good. Time for a DP.

Pathetic atbat. I don't even think Grinderstad moved his feet once in that AB.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a joke...no matter how bad Thome's 9th inning stats are, I'd take him against a RHP over anyone in baseball right now. No, it's good discussion. Thome had a 1.300 OPS in the 8th inning last year. (40 something at-bats) Thome had a .580 ish OPS in the 9th inning last year. (30 something at-bats) Jones sucks, but I want the lead right here.

Nice job BA, but Darin would've slid head first, get his jersey dirty, dislocate his shoulder and Hawk and Ozzie would be praising him left and right for his grit and grind.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The PK homer was earlier in the year. Zumaya dominated him every AB after that. Good thing we have Thome batting in the 8th here and not the 9th. Jones vs. Thome, or Zumaya vs. Thome

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hawk and facts dont exactly go hand in hand. So you are calling the stadium gun a liar? As I mentioned before, the gun read one pitch at 99 when WGN said 94.

So the difference between the ballpark and WGN radar funs are 5 MPH? This one was 3 MPH off.

Contreras: 35 strikes, 6 balls. If I'm a Tigers fan, I'd be a little pissed off. We still have a good chance to win this one.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As if seeing Erstad leadoff against righties isn't bad enough, him playing against LHP just boggles my mind. His OPS is nearly identical this year. .489 against LHP .490 against RHP The pro-Erstads will mention how Darin's ground out move the runner to third, but he didn't score. That's not a productive out to me. That was the second out of the inning and the runner is probably going to score from second on anything but an infield hit.

I really wish the MLB would do something about the "neighborhood rule." Guillen touch the base before he had the ball, and it looked close when he caught it if his foot was still touching the bag. I remember against the Red Sox, Alex Cora was about a foot from second and they still gave him the out.
