  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No offense, but im not looking for the horrendous build quality of an american made muscle car. As evident by my current car, i dont want to be running 9's on the track. Are you talking about a 1/4 mile? http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/art.../0-60times.html My rear-wheeled american coupe goes 0-60 in about 4.8 seconds, but I don't stand a chance in wet weather. I didn't even try driving it in an inch of snow.
  2. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What I mean is majority of the team is sucking right now. If you were to use numbers alone, then Konerko, Dye, AJ, and Crede would be riding the pine too. He did just hit .333 in this series, so we will see. I am just giving him, like the rest of the guys a few more weeks before using the numbers as a larger discriminant. Also, his OBP would be .304 after today (7-23) not .292, still not acceptable for a leadoff hitter, but better than most of the team right now. Apparently Sac flies count as a PA, but sac bunts don't. Go figure. That where the extra PA comes from. Here's the difference between Erstad, Dye, AJ, and Crede OPS: Dye: .726 Konerko: .592 AJ: .571 Crede: .568 Erstad: .507 Erstad is also getting more plate appearances than those guys, so that's another problem. Those other 4 players have different contract situations as well. Dye is coming off a monster year and is a contract year. He'll hit. Konerko is in the middle of a big deal, and we don't really have any other first base options. AJ's backup is hurt and Molina is nothing. As a result AJ is having to face lefties and is probably starting to burn out. Crede has no replacement ready at this time. Erstad signed a 1 year worth at least $1 million. He also has an option that kicks in for $6 MILLION next year if he gets 600 PA's. Despite his performance, the manager is insistant on putting him near or at the very top of the order. The White Sox also have two other CF options in Anderson and Terrero. Erstad is clearly the worst offensive player on this team and is stunting the growth of a rookie whose manager is against him. It is very understandable why people are all over Darin and not the 4 players you mentioned.
  3. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> .273 is 6 for 22. The .176 was for his 3 for 17 before his 3 for 5 today in that position. With the way everyone else is batting this season, it is hard to evaluate Erstad based on numbers alone. Ok, I gotcha. Yahoo didn't have it updated in the player profile but had it updated in the box score. Even so, his OBP in the leadoff spot is .292. That is garbage What numbers are wrong in using to evaluate Erstad? I see it with my own eyes. All he does is ground out, infield single, strike out, and pop out.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I pray that some of you stop slurping Brian Anderson. Why don't you show an example by not talking up every former and current Angels player. Anderson isn't a bonafide lock to help the team, but Erstad is playing worse than him last April. Rookie Anderson in April 2006: .161/.264/.290 Veteran Erstad in April 2007: .169/.234/.220 Yet some how the rookie blew his chance and the veteran can't be removed from the lineup.

  6. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Until Konerko and AJ start batting above .200, I am going to withhold my judgment on Erstad. Erstad is batting .273 when leading off, so he may be best in that position if he can keep it up and get on base around a 1/3 of the time. He looked much better this series and it seems like the Sox are holding onto BA until they feel completely comfortable with Erstad. I figure once Pods gets back, they will send BA down and keep the extra pitcher (so Ozzie can use 5 pitchers per game). Where are you getting .273 from? This year his line from the #1 spot: .176/.222/.176 Career #1 spot (spiked with 2000): .298/.353/.454 QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's had some very hard hit balls. Especially today. Looks like 15% of the balls he has made contact with have been line drives. That sucks.
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How's Skankeny treating you? L-A-M-E I went up by you the past couple of nights to see Saliva and Mike Jones. That was OK, but VEISHEA doesn't compare to Unofficial.
  8. Dubai in a few more years, Las Vegas, and Amsterdam. Oh yeah, out of Iowa and back home in Illinois.
  9. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So an expert talent evaluator such as yourself only needs 16 games to know Erstad won't hit .275 for the whole season ? ...and as an expert talent evaluator such as yourself only needs 16 games to know Erstad will hit at least .275 for the whole season? He's only batted .275 or better in 5 of the seasons in which he started on the opening day rosters. He's been hurt multiple times over the years and it's clearly obvious he is a shell of his former self. Batting average only tell half the story with getting on base too. In 2002 he had a .289 BA but a .313 OBP. That sucks He's on the downside of his career and all he shown offesnsively at this point in his career is the ability to a hit a ground ball. Assuming he has 600 at-bats (God I hope not because of that option,) Grinderstad would have to bat .284 the rest of the way. He's only batted .284 or better in a season once since his fluke 2000 season SEVEN FISHING YEARS AGO.
  10. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is every player in baseball a superstar or did I miss something ? As with most of the posters who support Erstad (and there are way more then the louder more obnoxious ones might have u think) we just support the team as a whole and try to leave the managing and general manging to the experts of which you are not one. That's great. I, as an Erstad basher, also support the team and know that I can't do anything to prevent the manager from playing his ass. I want the White Sox to be the best team possible, which it why I am upset for how they are handling Erstad.
  11. That was an awesome wrestling promo. He should've done that on Raw
  12. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Waiting doesnt play well around here. But you've been around long enough to know that. There are always the know-it-all, stat head , fantasy baseball geeks who think they know every facet of a game most of them have never played and wouldnt know a good team player, bad defense, or the difference between good n bad baserunning, or leadership if it jumped up and bit them on the ass. Who cares about his base running skills if he doesn't get on base? This team has more than enough leadership. We need less bad baseball players in order to be successful.
  13. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow u can think of players that hit more HR's and have a higher OPS then Estad in our lineup. Thats really deep thinking on your part. Maybe if we had a whole team of guys like that we wouldn't lose a single game and have to listen to u b**** n whine. ...and we wouldn't have posters like yourself make excuses for players sucking ass. Is Ozzie trying to trigger's Grinderstad's 2008 $6 million option before the waiver deadline?
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guarantee you that Ken Griffey Jr. will be a great influence on Hamilton. I'm betting "Farney" will be an even greater influence.
  15. Man I wish we won that game. We f***ing had it in the 9th!!! That game cost me $300
  16. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm pretty sure that strengthens my position. Because they know less about baseball, don't have as good as a view of the game as us, and we're all a bunch of crazies thinking Anderson should get some more PT
  17. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Alternate hypothesis: he is awful and thus gets no playing time. Well Farmer and Singleton disagree with you and agree with G&T
  18. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does anyone doubt they would have walked him anyway? Why would they pitch to Thome? Even so, why waste an out? At least give Pablo a chance, or send Erstad running to second.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Really stupid idea to bunt there. Now, we take the bat out of the hands of our best hitter. Terrible baseball. My thoughts exactly. Come on Paulie!
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Erstad can't have more than 2 extra base hits this year. Holy cow....that was pathetic. Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but Erstad's next XBH will be his first since his first at-bat of the year when he homered off of Sabathia.
  21. Something I just looked up. Sox are dead last in doubles with 16, and the Twins lead with 46.

    QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Obi Wan Kenobi http://bp3.blogger.com/_fYpsA3iAQDU/Rgoiz4...00-h/ObiWan.jpg Looks like Charles Darwin.
  23. We are not arguing salaries here, just ability and performance at third base. It's also unfair to compare salaries to players who hit free agency to arbitration eligible players. How much is Crede going to get when he becomes a FA?
