QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) f***ing Irish. They are gonna piss this away. Come on ND, DEFENSE, DEFENSE They have totally dominated this game yet Stanford is in a great shot to win it. They are on the 3 yard line with 1st and goal down by 6. I. am. very. angry. Fitzpatrick sucks. 2 missed field goals, 1 missed extra point. If they score a TD we are down by one. Put in my hometown boy Gioia god damn it. -

f*** YOU WEIS!! PUT IN GIOIA!!! f*** YOU FITZPATRICK!!! Gioia graduated in the same class as Samardzija at my HS, and he does kickoffs and is the backup kicker. f***. Why would Weis put Gioia in, Gioia makes it, then Weis puts Fitzpatrick in again after he's already missed a fg and an Extra point. -

QUOTE(Fotop @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Smardzija will be back next year playing receiver for the Irish. Book it. And he and Brady will be National Champions. Next year's team will be the best in many many years if not decades. I can't wait. -

QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Do you know what the deal with him is ?? Is he gonna get drafted for baseball this year or will he be back for ND next year ?? Nobody knows. I hope he sticks with football, but he is the ace of the ND pitching staff too. If I were him, I would enter the NFL draft this year because his stock really can't get any higher, but I highly doubt him doing that. -

Jeff Samardzija continues his domination at ND. 80 yard touchdown catch on the second play of the game and is now over 1,000 yards on the year and third all time at ND in yards, and could become the all-time leader very quickly. He's also tied for most TD catches (24) in the nation. Did I mention he's from my High School? -
The first 10 minutes have been GREAT. Can't wait for the rest.

White Sox acquire Jim Thome per ESPNnews

All of you that are outraged that Rowand is gone, just wait until Thome starts blasting home runs out of the Cell and then see what you think. Anderson is not much of a downgrade from Rowand defensively. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) I cannot see where in the world you get those numbers. As far as I know ARow will be paid $3.25 million next season after earning $2 million last season. Phillies are still paying $7 million for Thome, so in theory, they are paying $10 million for Rowand in 06 and $12 million for him in 07. -

QUOTE(mac9001 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) I don't really understand how this can be a positive trade? Thome had a no-trade clause and was apparently only willing to accept a trade to the White Sox and Indians, the Tribe didn't want him, so effectively the White Sox were the only team in the running for Thome. It seems to me if Kenny Williams had waited for a few more months the Phillies would have been more desperate and the Sox wouldn't have to part with two top-tier prospects. I see this trade as a lack of patience from Willimas that cost him more than would have been necessary to acquire Thome. .281/430/1193 for $7 million per year. Yes, we did lose prospects. Proven 40 home run slugger >>>>> Prospects. Would you rather repeat or possibly have a good pitcher in three years? -
White Sox acquire Jim Thome per ESPNnews
whitesoxin' replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Okay, so I'm going to put my input into this discussion. Jim Thome is a monster lefty bat in the middle of the lineup. How long have we been waiting for this? Jim Thome is a proven clubhouse leader and a standup guy. Jim Thome waved his no trade clause to come home and finish his career with the World Champion Chicago White Sox. Jim Thome will thrive hitting in the cell, and hopefully will be able to focus on just hitting by being the DH. Jim Thome is owed $7 million per year, while in theory, Aaron Rowand is owed $10 million this year and $12 million in 2007. Which hitter would you prefer in the lineup? Which one is getting paid less by the Chicago White Sox? How many great defensive seasons did Aaron Rowand have before this year? How many 40 home run seasons has Jim Thome had playing in Cleveland and Philly? I love this deal!!! -
QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) pierre is winning? how are we going to acquire him? Delgado, gone. Beckett, gone. Lowell, gone. Why not Pierre? The Marlins are looking to give away all their good players and build up the farm again.

The Phillies are paying more for Rowand (technically) than we are for Thome.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) Is the Gio/Haigwood prosepcts offical? Cause if it is, this deal looks a little more one sided. Jim Thome coming home and waving his no trade clause to Chicago to finish his career. He will be a monster. We didn't need pitchers to be good for us 3 years down the road, we are going to repeat next year with Thome if we can resign Konerko. -

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) I just vomited in my throat... Lets see... Good defense in Anderson... Terrible offense if Pierre... For a defense based team... Not of mention the terrible one is going to cost more... Heck with that... ANDERSON OR BUST! Getting rid of Marte >>>>>>>>>> Starting Anderson -

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) There will always be more prospects, 50 HR lefties from the Chicagoland area don't grow on trees. I, for one, can't wait to see Thome's name etched in the starting lineup. If Konerko is brought back--and I have gone on record saying I don't think both Thome and Konerko will be on the same roster--this team is primed for another division championship and beyond. I'm feeling pretty fuzzy right now. Good vibes right off the bat. I agree. Don't you guys remember playing against Thome when he was with the Indians? I hated facing him, he was killer in Chicago. And now we'll be seeing that every game next year!!!
