QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:47 AM) No more savage than shooting rockets from a helicopter gunship into an apartment complex. No more savage than "collateral damage". No more savage than US soldiers making two Iraqis jump off a bridge to their deaths. [http://washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20040731-101609-2416r.htm -- I even got it from the Moonie Times, so I'm really waiting for the leftist media claim, Nuke] No more savage than the leveling of the entire city of Fallujah. No more savage than the systematic (yes, systematic, read the Taguba report) torture at the prisons like Abu Ghraib and Gitmo. Besides, didn't Bush tell them to "bring it on"? I feel very badly for all the families involved that have been affected by this tragedy. Its sad that they have to pay the price for our leaders being f***ing incompetent and functionally retarded. Former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer makes a startlingly trenchant point in the opening paragraph of Imperial Hubris, his bestselling book: "As I complete this book, U.S., British, and other coalition forces are trying to govern apparently ungovernable postwar states in Afghanistan and Iraq, while simultaneously fighting growing Islamist insurgencies in each – a state of affairs our leaders call victory. In conducting these activities, and the conventional military campaigns preceding them, U.S. forces and policies are completing the radicalization of the Islamic world, something Osama bin Laden has been trying to do with substantial but incomplete success since the early 1990s. As a result, I think it fair to conclude that the United States of America remains bin Laden's only indispensable ally." If Bush wants, as he said, for the terrorists to "bring it on" then they're really only giving him what he demanded. When our people do stupid s*** like that they get punished. When Radical muslims do crap like this they are lionized as heroes. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 07:18 AM) This is really really sad. The good news - if that's even possible - is that it may not be as bad as previously thought. Instead of seven bombings, its down to four. The current toll is 10 dead and 190 injured. Here's to hoping the numbers don't climb much further. I think that this could have been a LOT worse. Prayers with those who need it right now. Fox news is saying 45 killed total with as many as 1000 injured. f***ing savages!!!

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 06:44 AM) The timing was poor, to be sure, but there's people that are thinking it, sadly enough. That's part of the problem, actually, and why they continue to attack, is because we are so divided on this. Yeah. There's far too many people who don't realize that these people perpetrating these attacks are nothing more than a bunch of savages. Thats right. SAVAGES. Every last motherf***ig one of em. Savages can't be reasoned with. Savages can't be bargained with. Savages can't be bought off. Savages must be found wherever they are and exterminated. You all know I'm talking about that 1% of Islam that is perverting the religon for their own goals of a Taliban-like world. I dont want to hear any bulls*** about me being racist because you can't argue the point that people who commit random violence like this are f***ING SAVAGES.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) That is sooooooooooooo cute, practically finishing each other's sentences. I'm REALLY frightened right now. LOL!

I think it's fair to say we earned it. There were a lot of Soxtalk posters staying up late, taking time out of their workdays and using up precious spare time to stuff the ballot box for Pods. It sooooo kicks ass that he got in. to Pods for being awesome to the fans for making sure he got reccognized.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) Yes I know but look at the first line you wrote, it says eat s*** Marlins. Ok, I feel silly now.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) We did play the drays nuke not the Marlins Wow, great f'n day. A devil ray is a fish too..........and a rather ugly one at that. http://www.gma.org/fogm/Manta_birostris.htm

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) I'll pick it up tomorrow. So, exactly what's the plan, do we have a timeline? How are we going to do this? I was thinking maybe 2 weeks to allow everyone who's busy enough time to get through it. Maybe after one gets done and we all talk about it for a day or so then another member of the club gets a pick. How does that sound?

EAT s*** FISH!!!!!!!!! Nothing like sweeping a bunch of smelly fish out of our house!!! Sox are a winner twice over today with the sweep and with Pods beating out those Spankee assholes to get to the AS game. PODS FRANK Contreras for a nice outing to crazy Carl for a big game GIMMIE A HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) It's funny how Yanks fans are pissed, but a Cubs fan is defending Pods(pretty good might I add) and one Yanks fan is calling out others for not showing that much passion before the voting ended. It's true. If they think Jeter deserved it, they should've voted more. NY has a bigger community than Chicago. The Spankees board on MLB.COM is hilarious. I suggest you go check it out.

I read where Pods will recieve about 100 grand in bonuses for making the team. I wonder if he feels like sharing.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Unheralded my arse... Outside of Chicago maybe.

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) I voted a measly 18 times. Lets see who put the most effort into this thing. And don't lie about how much you voted. For every extra vote you claim, I shall kill you! Id estimate that I dropped about 750 votes for Pods/Oswalt. I'm so glad that Soxdom all came together and gave the poser/s***bag Jeter a couple of days off.
-
Its defenitely a great time to be a Sox fan. This last week with the whole "SUPPORT PODS" deal really brought all of Soxdom together as if the winning season hadn't already done so. I love this team more with each passing day. GO SOX!!!!

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) What, are you guys dating? I can't poke fun at the president? I could careless if he did cocaine or not...I just think its funny. Maybe Clinton will send Monica over to jump out of his birthday cake. If you want to poke fun at him because he mis-speaks during his speeches that's funny. If you want to poke fun at him because of his Texas Drawl that's funny. If you want to perpetuate a lie about past cocaine use that's NOT funny.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) Just to clarify. The Supreme Court ruled that as a private organization the Boy Scouts are free to establish their own membership standards. It did not specify what those membership standards are. The Supreme Court ruling thus continued to keep legal things like the Knights of Columbus being limited to Catholic Men, Daughters of the American Revolution, can be daughters, etc. To have ruled otherwise, the NAACP would have had to allow non colored equal access, etc. This is why the BSA position was supported by so many civic groups. I'm not certain about freebees to the BSA. I cannot think of one that BSA receives that other non profit, civic groups also receive. We stay at several bases, when allowed, but always pay the rack rate and for meals when offered. We have crossed paths with YMCA groups, school groups, Girl Scouts USA, baseball teams, etc. This has nothing to do with any legal issue it has to do with the rank hypocrasy of an organization that preaches tolerance, diversity and inclusion banning people from serving who have a viewpoint that differs from their leadership.

GAME THREAD 7-6-2005 SOX vs FISH
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) We're not playing the Fish. The Fish were the 2003 National League champions and are 2-0 at US Cellular Field...both times as the home team. Devil Rays are a type of fish just the same as Marlins are. http://www.gma.org/fogm/Manta_birostris.htm -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Alternative energy is only as good as the people who are willing to use it. There is not much appreciable demand for it, so it flouders in this current enviornment. Supply disruption fears are a product of extreme demand. It is mostly causation of the fact that we are at capacity. Anything causes supply disruptions now, whereas historical when you have spare production capacity, you just switch to the spare capacity. Right now you don't have that luxury, so something that 5 years ago wouldn't have mattered, now gives speculators a chance to run up the price of crude. The question that no one is asking is why are we at capacity? I think I know why, and I wish I had a way to test my theory. Well what is your theory? I keep hearing that explosive growth in China's economy is driving up demand.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) You are right on the first part. On the second part, think differently. I am taking you guys down a road that neither party has had the guts to talk about. Its not terror premium I am talking about here. The terror premium is part of it for certain but another issue that I keep hearing is that the supply capacity and demand are roughly balanced right now and any disruption.......or potential disruption......( oil is up almost 1.70 a barrel today because of some weak tropical storm which is making its way through the Gulf of Mexico ) causes the price of oil to get bid up. This is from Rick Santelli who does coverage of the commodities and bond markets from Chicago for CNBC. Back to your point though, are you referring to the fact that the government isin't serious about alternative energy at all?

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Glad to see he's back to being the Cardiac Kid. I liked Foulke when he was here and I really don't want to see him fail.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) One more thought on oil prices, independant of China and everyone else... What do the last two major price spikes in the price of oil have in common? (early 90's and now) War in the middle east. It makes sense that this spike is worse than the last one because of the "terror premium" I mentioned before.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. PRESIDENT.
