  1. Neither Johnson or Moss has the potential of Armas, though. If the Sox get any of those guys I want it to be him. I'd like to get more than one, though. You can never have too much pitching.
  2. They also mention Reinsdorf talking to Ponson's agent, though. Who's to say that the Baltimore Sun is more trsutworthy than the Akron Beacon, anyway. If the SOx lose out on Ponson, though, I'd rather see KW sign Armas or Garcia if they're non-tendered than Johnson or Moss, though I'd be happy with almost any movement right now, as long as it shows the Sox aren't giving up on this season. Armas has an ALl-Star arm, though, if he can ever stay healthy, and a change of scenery might do Garcia good.
  3. I used to post on the ESPN boards and this board is way better than those were. I am kind of disappointed Soxnet.net isn't still running though. I miss my totally biased Sox coverage!
  4. I was thinking about it, and maybe Ozzie would be willing to give up managerial duties to play DH instead of Karkovice, and we could rehire "The Bev," with JM as his bench coach.
  5. I like most of it. But, if we can get Jamie Navarro to come out of retirement and stick him in the ace slot, spin Mark and Esteban in a package four-way deal and get Jim Parque from the D-Rays, James Baldwin from the Mariners and and Cal Eldred from the Cards, then there's no question we're playoff bound. We could stick Frank in at the closer spot instead of the rotation and bring Karkovice out of retirement as our new DH. Then we'd have the perfect marketing campaign: "Turn Back the Clock to Ron Schueler." Brilliant.
  6. I for one hope Rauch will at least get a chance in the rotation next year. He's completely healthy now and he can't be any worse than Schoenweiss was last year or the year before when he was starting for the Halos. Give Jonny a chance!!! As for this Grilli guy, who knows? All you can do is give him a chance in Spring Training and hope he earns a spot in the bullpen or rotation. He may even be a possible closer option, from what I've heard about his stuff and history. A guy with great stuff and injury history may do better pitching an inning every day or two than six or seven innings every five days.
  7. If you think about recent history, KW (and even Schuler in his final years) tended to make at least one big offseason move, and usually it's come as at least something of a surprise to most of us. Belle, Wells, Ritchie, Colon, etc...Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about who KW might be secretly pursuing or who they'd like to see him secretly pursuing. Also, with many players liable to be non-tendered in January, which under the radar signings (i.e. Esteban Loaiza) do you think the Sox should make. P.S. That non-tender thing reminds me that if Garcia doesn't get traded there's a good chance the Mariners will cut him loose and the Sox could get him without giving up anyone in return, so unless they're giving up almost nothing, I don't the Sox should trade for him.
